  1. The Anthropic deal, $9 billion cloud deal with Riot, this is is the Bitcoin miner that now apparently sells AI data center capacity. Is Anthropic at a disadvantage compared to OpenAI because of compute?

  2. Plus, that stalemate over the Strait of Hormuz continues. Deal talks show no signs of progress. Where are oil prices going to go from here? A key question. And you just heard us talking about this, the Bitcoin miner Riot Platform stock surging. Another one of those deals. Of course, this had once been a Bitcoin miner. Now what is it about? Well, data centers, $9 billion, in fact. In compute power with Anthropic. Sign up.

  3. I like to be out there with the dolphins. You don't sleep with the fishes? No, not sleep, just swim with them. I don't sleep with them. All right, I'm going to move us on now to this deal that we mentioned at the top of the show. Riot, it's been around for a while. Yeah, a former Bitcoin miner. We see this a lot. Of course, what do they have? Well, they've got powered shells, right? They've got access to power and compute. So, power, I want— what do you think they want to do now? Of course, they want to become part of the compute for the big— well, whoever will take it. In this case, it's Anthropic. They didn't say Anthropic, but others have reported it. I know it as well. It's the Rockdale campus. They do have another significant campus that we haven't gotten an announcement on. So there is a waiting game there. We're talking about what is it, 191 megawatts of capacity and a 20-year deal to supply that to Anthropic, which of course is endlessly looking for more and more compute, right, as it needs to provide its customers with more and more of that and charge them for it. Riot. But Riot stock, people, the investor base has been waiting for this and they're still waiting for, as I said, that other campus they have as well to announce a similar type deal. As for Anthropic, what do you think about that?

And President Trump again speaking from the Oval Office: the American Academy of Pediatrics says spreading out the vaccines could lead to more kids missing shots at a time when vaccination rates are already falling. Search and rescue efforts got underway early today in dozens of cities and towns in Western Colombia after a powerful earthquake struck the region. At least 111 people were killed and many are trapped under the debris of damaged and destroyed buildings. Turning to the markets this morning, chip stocks are in focus. Nvidia is sourcing $500 billion in new financing for AI infrastructure from Wall Street. 6 firms— Apollo Global Management, Blackstone, BlackRock, Brookfield Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, and KKR— are providing the capital. Intel has raised $20 billion in an upsized share sale. That's a third more than it was targeting when it announced the deal yesterday morning. Sources say the share sale has drawn more than $100 billion in demand. Shares of Riot Platforms are soaring, up more than 16%. Bloomberg News has learned Anthropic has struck a $9 billion deal with the Bitcoin mining company that recently began selling AI data center capacity. Rocket Lab shares are lower. The company signaled a potential new delay with its Neutron rocket, and that's raising the prospect that the vehicle, meant to challenge SpaceX's dominant Falcon 9 rocket, will not fly until 2027. U.S. small business optimism rose in July to the highest level in almost a year as firms ramped up hiring plans and inflation pressures eased. The National Federation of Independent Business Index increased 2.4 points to 99.8 the highest level since August 2025. Gold is trading near a 2-month high ahead of that U.S. inflation data that could provide fresh clues on the Federal Reserve's appetite for an interest rate hike. Tomorrow morning, we will get the Consumer Price Index. It's forecast to have increased 0.1% in July. And again, oil is higher after it briefly erased its gains. Futures, meanwhile, higher as well. S&P futures up 0.1%, up 10 points. Dow futures Little change. Nasdaq futures up a quarter percent. 10-year Treasury yield 4.7%. And Brent, yes, wavering, though it is now down 2/10 of a percent at $87.57 a barrel. That's news when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Karen Moscow and this is Bloomberg.

  5. Welcome to Seeking Alpha's Wall Street Breakfast, where we cover the top news for investors every morning. It's good to be here with you on this Tuesday, August 11th. I'm Julie Morgan. Anthropic has reportedly struck a $9.1 billion deal with Riot Platforms, a Bitcoin mining company that recently began selling AI data center capacity. Bloomberg News reported that Riot disclosed Monday that it had secured a 20-year deal to supply 100 megawatts of capacity from its Rockdale, Texas campus to a leading frontier AI company. According to the report, that company is Anthropic. To put this into perspective for you, 191 megawatts of capacity is enough to energize roughly 143,000 homes at any given time. Riot is up 20% in pre-market trading. The agreement reportedly runs through June of 2048, Riot expects the contract to generate $9.1 billion in revenue, while two 5-year extension options could take total sales to as much as $16.1 billion. Plug Power is up 11% in premarket action. Shares climbed after the hydrogen and fuel cell company reported Q2 results that beat expectations, achieved near breakeven gross margin, and raised its fiscal year '26 revenue growth target. Gross margin improved to roughly breakeven from -31% a year earlier, while operating expenses fell about 50% year over year to $62 million. The company now targets 2026 revenue growth of 15-16%. SpaceX closed 4.2% higher at $138.74 on Monday, moving back above the company's $135 IPO price for the first time since July 16th. SpaceX is currently down 1% in premarket action, still above $135. The stock had closed below its IPO price for several weeks after first slipping under the $135 level on July 16th. Monday's gain extended a sharp rebound from its $104.83 intraday low on August 3rd. The move also marks SpaceX's highest close since July 13th, although the stock remains well below its post-IPO highs. Now for a look at a few other articles that are trending. This first one makes me want to snap my fingers for some reason. Stocks are partying and HSBC says the good times are not over yet. Hormuz risk premium: who wins and loses in the tanker trade? And Intel upsizes its stock offering to $20 billion and prices it at $95 a share. I have one item for you on our catalyst to watch: the Monster Beverage 2-for-1 stock split will become effective.

  8. That is Bloomberg's Emily Graffeo. Now, Nvidia has already inked hundreds of billions of dollars worth of deals with companies across the AI ecosystem, and that has led investors to be a little concerned that the chipmaking giant is inflating both demand and valuations. Bloomberg has learned that Anthropic has struck a $9.1 billion deal with Riot Platforms, a Bitcoin mining company that recently began selling AI data center capacity. Sources say the move underscores Anthropic's efforts to secure enough compute to meet customer demand for its Claude AI model. It was early on Monday, Riot disclosed it had secured a 20-year deal to supply 191 megawatts of capacity from its Rockdale, Texas campus to a leading frontier AI company. Intel is looking to increase the amount it's raising in a share sale to about $20 billion. Now, that's a third more than Intel had been targeting. Analysts say it should help further cushion a balance sheet already burdened with debt. Here is Bloomberg's Ian King.
