I want to go back to what you said about an asset we call compute. When I was at Goldman Sachs in the '80s, someone said, you know what, we ought to bundle a lot of auto loans, make them into an asset. Everyone laughed, thought it was really stupid. It's now the second biggest market. I think compute— what you're talking about with the $500 billion that people are getting together on Wall Street— compute should be much bigger than auto one day, don't you think?

And they're sticking apparently in Q2, which is good because now we're starting to see the finalization of that. So we had good momentum coming into the quarter, third quarter. The worry here again is that we're going to be losing some of this momentum. So this personal spending number is catching my eye a little. And we also recently had a big note out from Goldman basically saying that their July and August data is showing that there is a slowing in consumer despite all the boom we're seeing at the US Open and the World Cup and all that. So there is a little bit of a divergence here with the momentum coming out of Q2 going into Q3 where we're going to still have this fixed investment boom from CapEx and from the reshoring and from the defense spending. But the consumer itself now is looking more wavering.

It's, it's kind of when you think back to the whole SpaceX IPO Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley were joint leads, but Goldman Sachs had the coveted lead left role, which meant their name was first on the branding. They could say in marketing materials, we were the ones who worked closest with Elon Musk to take SpaceX public. And that just goes so much— such a long way when you look at marketing the next deal à la Anthropic or OpenAI from the banking perspective. And obviously it also plays out in the fees and it does play out in bonuses, which I know bankers really care about.
