  1. I said, look, I think this stuff's wrong. I, by the way, Nobody disagreed with me. But yes, the SEC has been very lenient over time, which is amazing that the president seems to want the CFTC to do crypto because I think this SEC would bless half those coins that are on that Coinbase page that are like made up yesterday.

  2. Again, I think it remains to be seen. I would say that we will have to watch very closely to see how they expand, but they're certainly not alone in terms of fintechs and other, and other firms seeking similar charters. We've seen Coinbase has received conditional approval. Circle has received conditional approval. These are a lot of digital asset firms that are kind of in the same space.

  3. Yeah, definitely, Carl. I'm going to get to the crypto headlines in a sec, but I really think this was a macro move amplified by this massive short squeeze and then further helped by the industry headlines that we saw. So the rally really began when the Treasury yields pulled back Wednesday, easing pressure on risk assets and the dollar weakened. Bitcoin tends to benefit when liquidity expectations improve and has an inverse relationship with the dollar. So the market starts thinking financial conditions could become more supportive for risk assets and scarce assets like Bitcoin. And then the move just started feeding on itself, Carl. So Bitcoin broke out of its recent trading range and then that triggered this huge amount of short covering. Billions of dollars in leveraged short positions were liquidated— sorry, liquidated roughly $2.7 billion around that, that day earlier this week. On top of that, we had this renewed ETF demand, which provided additional spot buying. And then you had the crypto-specific catalyst. We saw this last-ditch push from the White House and the crypto industry leaders to get the Clarity Act across the finish line in the coming weeks. This market structure bill for the industry was widely viewed as the catalyst that could finally push prices out of this crypto winter. But investors had started to view the bill as effectively dead for 2026 after the Senate left for its August recess without a vote. So the macro created the environment, positioning amplified the move, and then a more crypto-friendly regulatory narrative, giving investors another reason to buy crypto stocks soaring with Bitcoin, Coinbase, Circle, and Strategy all up as well for double-digit gains on the week, guys.

  4. That's how that's all going to play itself out. Yeah, maybe on the back of this, and this is maybe the credibility story, it's a boon for Bitcoin jumping again this morning. It's now up close to 20% just in the last 2 days, breaking out of a range it's been in for the last few months. We had a conversation with Brian Armstrong just yesterday from Coinbase about this, about the Clarity Act, whether that would be the driver of some of this. We talked to Anthony Scaramucci earlier in the week, whether actually it's a function of the credibility around our bond, our bonds right now, and whether that would actually inspire people to go buy Bitcoin or gold or things like that.

  5. I was just going to point out the crypto stocks, they're really— they're zooming today. Robinhood's up 11%. Coinbase is right behind it, up 9%. Like this debasement trade kind of back and forth. Gold is higher, crypto's higher.

  6. Yeah, I mean, look, I— when, when Trump Coin came out, again, I'm not— it's not even relevant to Trump. He doesn't have the only meme coin or shitcoin out there. I literally emailed the people I know at Coinbase. So what the fuck are you doing putting these shitcoins out when you know all you're going to do is watch people lose their money? 'Cause it's just a game of musical chairs. And then, you know, online, if X is like anything, they'll tell you, we know it's musical chairs. We know it's not even as good as a lottery ticket. And that's why we play, right? That's our gambling and that's our rush.

  8. So much to come still on SquawkPod, the latest from the White House. President Trump announces an economic D-Day for Iran and makes a public show of support for the crypto industry. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong was at a key White House meeting about the Clarity Act, the future of which is anything but clear.
