  1. You know, we did a big piece on this and we decided, you know, it's a pretty darn good company. I know it's expensive, but you know what? Look, it's genetic diagnostic. I mean, that's what I used to go to Danaher for. I think you got a good one. Let's go to Moses in Texas. Moses. Booyah, Jim! Booyah! Hit me.

  2. And I give talks at physics departments and I've now started non-cooperation with the departments who've asked me to come and talk, but will technically deny me a talk. So for example, I've given a talk at the University of Texas Austin, but I'm not allowed to say that the talk occurred in the physics department.

  4. Well, Carl, this is a landmark settlement between Meta and 48 states worth up to $17 billion over 10 years. Meta is saying it'll pay as much as $18 billion, which includes a separate $1 billion settlement with the state of Texas. Meta is also agreeing to some product changes, including a 2-hour daily time limit for teens and a default block at night, as well as muted, muted notifications during the school day and hidden likes for teens. Now, Meta has agreed to implement new age assurances to remove kids under 13 and also to identify accounts of users under age 17. Now, the deal with the state AG specifies that Meta will pay $5.3 billion of that overall settlement if its rivals YouTube and TikTok also agree to a daily hour limit for teens, to night mode, and age assurance measures. Meta saying, quote, the framework we've negotiated will empower parents to easily manage how their children access our platform forms. The company going on to say its new changes, quote, set the right path forward for our whole industry. But this framework will only work if all of our peers join us. Now, California Attorney General Rob Bonta is saying, quote, I'm proud to deliver the settlement that addresses the concerns at the core of our lawsuit and institutes real change, real transparency, and real enforceable protections for children on Facebook and Instagram. Going on to say right now, no more waiting as to how these changes will impact No more waiting. Now, as to the big picture question of how these changes are going to impact revenue, Meta has said its platforms generate less than 1% of their revenue from teens and are less financially exposed to teen usage than their rivals are. So they don't expect these product changes to meaningfully impact their top or bottom line. But Meta did say in the release that it expects to accrue a legal expense of $10 billion in the third quarter due to this agreement.

  5. Bloomberg's Zabeer Abu Omar in Dubai. And in the Glenn Beck interview, President Trump said the U.S. is still in control of the strait. He says about 10 million barrels of oil made it through yesterday. Currently, both Brent and West Texas Intermediate crude are little changed. Stocks are moving a touch lower. Treasury yields are on the rise. The Fed's preferred read on inflation, the core PCE index, came in right where economists expected at 3.3%. The headline number was a little higher, though.

  6. I mean, they really don't. If some congresswoman or man from Texas votes to spend a lot, you know what happens to her paycheck? What happens to her lifestyle? Nothing. She gets— probably gets some lobbyists that she can come in, give some more political contributions. So I have always tried to focus on how can we internalize the incentive system into our politicians and make it so that they behave correctly, or at least more correctly.

  7. Bloomberg's Dana Chris in Dubai. President Trump gave a radio interview today to conservative pundit Glenn Beck. He said 10 million barrels of oil flowed through Hormuz yesterday and that the U.S. blockade is working right now. Brent crude is lower by more than 1%, trading just shy of $88 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate is close to $82. That's a decline of 8/10 of 1%. The president also said the U.S. can get by without Ottawa, Canada. That's as a White House official says the U.S. is considering even more penalties over Canada's tit-for-tat retaliation to new 50% tariffs. Bloomberg Global Trade Editor Brendan Murray has more.

  8. And the Trump administration has done a lot to remove the impediments that, you know, I think were in place during the Biden administration. You know, famously, in the early days of the Biden administration, we saw the removal of the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline and effectively killing that project. But, you know, removing the impediments, the approval, streamlining the approval process through the various bodies that are responsible for the permitting of new pipeline construction and buildout, that can, that can allow for a fast track of project expansion. And we're seeing a number of big projects being developed in areas like Texas and Ultimately, we'll see some pipelines deliver refined products to the Southwest and ultimately the West Coast of California. But it is, it is a process that's lengthy, that's lengthy. And the Trump administration is doing a lot to expedite that process.
