Tesla ($TSLA) podcast mentions

  1. It's not the size of the LLM. It's what you train them on. If you only show them miles driven by Tesla, all it's seen is the road. It will eventually go from a tool to an agent, but it may take 50 years, 100 years. It's not going to happen in 2027. 7. And that's all we can do right now, buy more time. So with those tools, we can make smarter decisions about future development.

  2. Exactly. And that's why I think, you know, SpaceX and Tesla bulls are just so excited about these AI data centers in space, which we discussed on my SpaceX picks. So, you know, renewable energy is clearly a massive competitive advantage, and having data centers in space also takes care of much of the cooling that must be very, very carefully managed. But let's look at some of the economics of Alphabet's competitors in the AI data center space. So there are a few businesses that compete in the value chain. The two best ones that I came over were CoreWeave and Nebius. Simply because they're kind of pure play and don't have financials that are obfuscated by other business lines such as, you know, an Oracle, an Amazon, or a Microsoft. Now, the problem with both businesses is that they just today remain unprofitable. So even if you are making a complaint about Google's appreciation being artificially low, they're still probably much more profitable than either Neebius or CoreWeave is today.

  3. So, so I don't worry about that part at all. And there's $11 trillion globally sitting in money market funds. I think $7 trillion in the US. There's plenty of liquidity to absorb those types of things. Um, you know, look, my bigger worry is I don't think the market talks enough about market beta risk, right? What does, what does that mean, market beta risk? Well, if I'm a passive, index and Tesla, the day Tesla got added to the S&P 500, the S&P 500 became more volatile, which by the way is a measurement of risk. And nobody talked about that changing. Or the market index concentrates in 7. You have the Mag 7 and you get a massive concentration and nobody talks about that risk, right? Because we all know if you're managing your client's portfolios, it's all about diversification because You never know when the next black swan comes in and surprises everybody.

  5. Coming up on Squawk Pod, one of Elon Musk's biggest supporters, mutual fund billionaire Ron Baron. He's been betting on Tesla and SpaceX for many years, but he's not fully sold on the robot.

  6. Welcome back, everybody, to Squawk Box. We have a very special guest joining us on set for the next half hour. Ron Baron is the founder, the CEO, and portfolio manager of Baron Capital. Ron has long backed Elon Musk, first becoming a shareholder of SpaceX back in 2017. We've had him on lots of times to talk about Tesla, SpaceX, and much more. Ron, want to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to sit down with us today.

  7. And $5 billion in Tesla. So that's more than $30 billion in assets under management in those two stocks. I look at your next 13 stocks and it's companies we've known for a long time that you've talked to us about— Hyatt, MSCI, Spotify, Charles Schwab. But all of those next 13 stocks combined, your holdings are only about $15.5 billion. So you are really an Elon Musk proxy at this point in terms of what you've done. A lot of that's been because the shares you've bought have risen so dramatically.

  8. Tell us what you think about where things stand with Tesla, where things stand with SpaceX. You've been a longtime booster.

  9. So before we get into the SpaceX and AI and, and satellites, and I just want to give you one little story about Tesla. And so they made a car, the Model S, and they stopped making it. And they had 250 more that they made that were special, cost twice as much as the ones they had before. And I bought one of them and All the cars have self-driving. If you want it, you pay $100 a month. And so we have one out in East Hampton and it is my favorite car I've ever had. It's a picture of the front of our quarterly report. And on Sunday mornings, we go to breakfast in a little joint in East Hampton and we have pancakes and French toast and cereal and orange juice. And I overslept on Sunday morning. So I said, oh my God, I'm looking and no one's here. So I take a quick shower, run out to my car that's in the garage.

  10. Don't worry about this stuff anymore. This is really cool. You got to have it. So that's Tesla. SpaceX.
Ron Baron · Squawk Pod · “Science of the AI Mind” & Ron Baron 9/16/26 · 2026-09-16
  11. Yeah, much better than you do. So, so SpaceX and Tesla, I assume you want to talk about that. And I assume you want to talk.
Ron Baron · Squawk Pod · “Science of the AI Mind” & Ron Baron 9/16/26 · 2026-09-16
  12. Well, before we do, let's, let's talk about all of those things. But let's also talk about what people are looking and valuing Tesla at right now. And there's a huge question as to whether Elon Musk is going to wrap Tesla into SpaceX, buy it. He was even asked that in a podcast yesterday, I think, that he and Gwynne were on yesterday, the day before. And he kind of didn't knock the idea down. How do you feel as somebody who owns, you know, $25 billion worth of SpaceX and more than $5 billion worth of Tesla? How do you feel about SpaceX making a bid for Tesla and wrapping it in?

  13. By now, the prediction was inroads would be occurring with the other automakers into Tesla's market share in the United States. Now, just a couple of days ago, it came out Tesla's market share is increasing again because a lot of the legacy makers are not going to go in full in on the EV. So suddenly it's Tesla. And to buy a Tesla, you may not—

  15. Yeah, the Tesla market share and market share. And in Europe, it's incredible. And everywhere in the world is incredible. Everywhere.
