And that's the whole, you know, and also I think that we put Normatec in a better brand vehicle that reached more people and then expanded our distribution globally. Yeah, but, um, but that was something where I was like, wow, when, when, when I first got in it and I said like, this makes it measurable, it checked all the boxes. The experience when you use it feels good, you feel good after, and then there's science to back it up. Those are— that's, that's the trinity of, of what makes a great product in our space. So yes, so there, to answer your question, you said the last 5 years. Well, we bought Normtec 5 years ago, so I would say that was the one that— and we just felt we needed it. We felt that you couldn't have a comprehensive recovery brand without the technology, and there was nothing that we were, you know, we didn't have the chops in-house to do what they did. It was developed by MITMD, and there was a huge amount of acceptance around their technology. So yeah, I would say like, you know, NormaTec is, you know, was the one, and we ended up, we ended up acquiring it.
Anthony Katz · InvestTalk · How Founders Are Building the Next Market Giants with Anthony Katz · 2026-10-09Yeah, I'll try and narrow it down as much as I can. I think certainly so much to kind of touch on as we just kicked off Q4 a couple days ago, but I think First and foremost, maybe just a touch on what we are seeing from a few of the big national nonprofit Catholic health systems. One of our fantastic reporters, Maddie Ashley, did a fantastic report this morning on the end of fiscal year 2026 for Ascension, CommonSpirit, Trinity Health, and Baylor Scott& White Health, obviously headquartered down in Texas, large regional system, fantastically run and super prof— very, very profitable. But I think just a quick little breakdown of how these systems performance at the end of the fiscal year 2026, which ended at the end of June. So 3 out of those 4 systems I've mentioned did see their improved operating performance. So the Trinity Health swung from an operating loss up to about a $281 million operating gain.
Alan Condon · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Health System Margins, Growth, and M&A with Alan Condon · 2026-10-09Yeah, I think, um, we saw a ton of M&A activity. I think October 1st, going a little bit, we saw a ton of activity across the country daily, some big, big systems entering new markets, some smaller systems, some larger systems also offloading hospitals in non-core areas. I think just to kind of call out one or two of the most notable deals that we saw, I would say first and foremost would be UPMC has finally acquired Trinity Health System. Now that's not the nonprofit large national Catholic system headquartered in Michigan. This is a 4-hospital health system headquartered in Ohio. So UPMC has acquired this 4-hospital system from CommonSpirit. That deal is done and dusted over the line October 1st. I think what's really interesting about this deal is it marks UPMC's first move, its entry into the Ohio hospital market.
Alan Condon · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Health System Margins, Growth, and M&A with Alan Condon · 2026-10-09Yeah, I jokingly called it the Rogan Trinity when we got GSP. We've got the pyramids, we've got the comedy, we've got the ass whooping. We hit all three.
Dan Richards · The Joe Rogan Experience · #2563 - Dan Richards · 2026-10-08And the passion that these guys have. Like you say, that's honestly, it's a huge thing. Duncan gave me a really good compliment. Duncan Trussell saying that I was all passionate like him. I fucking, whoa, what's that guy that did all calculus and stuff, the old school, Sir Isaac Newton, and I was like, damn, I don't think I'm like that, but thank you. Probably got as many chemicals in my body, but. Was Isaac Newton a tripper? No, no, he was an alchemist, so he like died of mercury poisoning. Did he really? This is one of the funniest things, I love saying this one on Twitter, I say it once every couple years. The world we live in now where they'll take a scientist and they'll say like, yeah, but this guy's political opinions are all skewed. So fuck this guy. It's like, you know what they would have done with Sir Isaac Newton? We wouldn't have the theory of gravity or calculus. They'd have been like, yeah, that guy denies the Trinity and he's fucking an alchemist. Why would I put up with this crazy guy's bullshit?
Dan Richards · The Joe Rogan Experience · #2563 - Dan Richards · 2026-10-08He's an Austrian general. Prussian general, actually. Prussian. Prussian general who, you know, talked about this concept called friction. And he has this Clausewitzian triangle where he talks about like you know, you have these three, these three areas that the pendulum swings over, like, uh, probability and chance, logic and reason, and, uh, luck. You know, it— no, probability and chance, logic and reason, and passion and enmity, hatred. So you can look at society right now and you can take a Clausewitzian trinity and put it over society, and you know that we're operating in a place of emotions and passions. Yeah, so logic and reasons wouldn't even making it, you know, wouldn't even mean anything. So it's the Trinity, you know, so it really helps you think about life, you know.
LL Cool J · The Joe Rogan Experience · #2561 - LL Cool J · 2026-10-06Uh, that's interesting. I mean, the only one I know, like, from, like, offhand is Edward Teller, the guy Benny Safdie is playing. Like, what's about until somebody builds a bigger bomb? That guy, like, he was a very staunch advocate for these weapons in America, having these weapons for, like, many years after, like he remained a very— like he was always like, now we got to build the hydrogen bomb next. Like, we got to keep this thing going, or the Nazis, or, you know, whoever, the communists are going to get us. So I know that one. I don't know any of the other guys who were at the Trinity test and what they thought.
Lon · This Week in Startups · Jason Mentors The Next Generation + Why AI Is Bad at Teaching (Aristotle Interview) | E2346 · 2026-10-05Hi everyone, and welcome to the Becker's Healthcare Clinical Leadership Podcast. I'm Mackenzie Bean, Associate Vice President and Managing Editor of Becker's Hospital Review. Today, I'm very excited to be joined on the podcast by Dr. Peggy Norton-Rasco, who is Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of Trinity Health. Peggy, thank you so much for being here today. How are you doing?
Mackenzie Bean · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Strengthening Nursing Governance and Building the Workforce at Trinity Health with Peggy Norton-Rosk · 2026-09-30It is all our pleasure. I'm looking forward to our conversation. I know you, um, started your role at Trinity Health in January, so excited to hear more about all of the meaningful work you're doing in that space. And I thought we could start off talking about governance. We know giving nurses a voice at the table is such a crucial aspect of retainment or satisfaction Shaping Organizational Strategy and More. Can you define governance at Trinity Health? What does that really look like in practice?
Mackenzie Bean · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Strengthening Nursing Governance and Building the Workforce at Trinity Health with Peggy Norton-Rosk · 2026-09-30Sure, thanks for the question. When I think of successful governance relating to nursing practice and what we're striving for at Trinity Health, I really believe it's a culture where nurses feel heard and are engaged in improving the collaborative relationships across the multidisciplinary team. They're also engaged in an active reciprocal relationship with the management team and invested in improving patient outcomes and supporting other nurses. The management responsibility in a successful governance environment requires transparent communication and authentic listening to understand the barriers to creating the practice environment where nurses feel heard and valued and where patients receive the best care. You know, I think as nurse leaders across the industry, we must— we really have to keep evaluating and being aware of the measurable impact nurses have on quality, safety, and clinical outcomes and make sure that other disciplines in the industry as a whole understands the impact we have as well.
Peggy Norton-Rosk · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Strengthening Nursing Governance and Building the Workforce at Trinity Health with Peggy Norton-Rosk · 2026-09-30I think it's always helpful to see real-world examples of governance in action and just how powerful a nurse's voice can be. What's an example of a decision where nurses' input at Trinity Health has actually changed the outcome or strategy of an initiative?
Mackenzie Bean · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Strengthening Nursing Governance and Building the Workforce at Trinity Health with Peggy Norton-Rosk · 2026-09-30That's the ultimate outcome, isn't it? And as you said, significant wins both for nurse satisfaction and retention on that side, but even more powerful, the direct outcome on patient care. So, so significant there. I appreciate you sharing that example, Peggy. I also wanted to pick your brain on the workforce piece. It's obviously a huge focus for chief nursing officers nationwide. I'm curious, at Trinity Health, where are you seeing the biggest bottleneck right now as it comes to pipeline development? Is it actually getting people into nursing schools? Is it clinical placements and preceptor, uh, volumes? Or is it really retaining new nurses beyond the first year? Let's start there.
Mackenzie Bean · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Strengthening Nursing Governance and Building the Workforce at Trinity Health with Peggy Norton-Rosk · 2026-09-30So what we're doing at Trinity and what many other health systems are doing across the country are looking at, you What do our partnerships with the Colleges of Nursing look like? Yes, it's making sure we can create space for all the clinical rotations we possibly can. Many of us are doing, you know, things that we haven't done historically, you know, night shift clinical rotations, weekend shift clinical rotations, which actually works best for some of the students who are in a more non-traditional student role as well. So we're looking at, and then we're also looking at how can we share resources differently that could perhaps help some of our team members become adjunct faculty to support the colleges and their faculty shortages. So that's, you know, that's— I'm always— I'm on an advisory board for the School of Nursing where I went for my undergraduate degree, Northern Illinois University. And this is the topic we talk about frequently is how can industry and academia partner differently to mitigate some of these workforce challenges.
Peggy Norton-Rosk · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Strengthening Nursing Governance and Building the Workforce at Trinity Health with Peggy Norton-Rosk · 2026-09-30You know, and then beyond that, we need to continue to focus on our work environment and the factors that contribute to burnout. You know, we all know that there's a lot of things that contribute to burnout, and it is not a lack of resiliency or strength in our frontline team members. We eventually might see that in them because of the conditions that can contribute to burnout, but we have to start looking at organizational factors. One of the things we're doing at Trinity is being really thoughtful about how we're looking at new technology. We want to— I just want to make really sure that any technology that we're going to implement isn't just to implement cool technology. It's to mitigate the workload. It's to improve the quality of patient care. And it's to, you know, most specifically and most frequently to reduce the documentation burden, which I know is difficult for all clinicians, not just nursing. And then, you know, with a large portion of the nursing workforce being new to practice, we definitely have opportunity to continue to support them across Trinity Health.
Peggy Norton-Rosk · Becker’s Healthcare Podcast · Strengthening Nursing Governance and Building the Workforce at Trinity Health with Peggy Norton-Rosk · 2026-09-30I'd love to go one bit deeper on the career development piece. As you said, there's many different levers at play right now to support pipeline development. You said the creative partnerships with academia, a huge focus on work environment and burnout, thoughtful implementation of technology, your residency program, of course. But go a little bit deeper on those programs. Once you do have your new nurses joining you, how do you encourage them to not just stay, but really feel motivated to grow with Trinity Health?
