So this is another place where we have to negotiate, right? Negotiate boundaries. The evidence right now on AI and sort of counseling is generally mixed to favorable. Like, we don't really know the outcomes very well. There's some early studies that have suggested positive things. We have a lot of anecdotal and lawsuits about AI psychosis problems. It's kind of hard to I mean, you're inviting this thing into your intimate parts of your life. How do you feel about that? On the other hand, as I talk about in the book, one of the first things people start doing with AI are things like obituaries and wedding toasts and children's stories, like literally the most intimate things we do. So the thing about AI that seems to be good is same thing of financial advice. It gives good advice, like good straightforward advice. So if it helps you to have a third person involved that gives you good straightforward advice, that can be very useful. Um, you, at the same time, you don't want someone sort sort of going to AI and finding strategies to beat you in conversation. So I would, you know, advise openness. Like, it's certainly worth trying.
Ethan Mollick · The Prof G Pod with Scott Galloway · Can We Coexist With AI? — with Ethan Mollick · 2026-10-22That's a great sign that you want out because they can only push a stock up so much before they run out of firepower. Of course, there are other situations where speculative stocks go out of favor all at once, regardless of how much attention they're getting. In 2021, we had a huge run in anything related to electric vehicles. Think carmakers, battery plays, charging stations. Same goes for enterprise software stocks. Now, a lot of this was fueled by an easy money environment with near-zero interest rates. There was a lot of liquidity kicking around back then, and it had to go somewhere, which is why so many money-losing companies had red-hot stocks. But then the Federal Reserve declared war on inflation back in November of 2021, letting you know that the age of near-zero interest rates has come to an end. At that point, we knew that the speculative froth was about to be drained out of the entire market, because that's what always occurs when they tighten rates. Now, I very quickly told you we're in a new environment where anything's expected was toast. And instead, you wanted to own real companies that make things or do stuff at a profit.

Tom Dotan · Better Offline · The Mind of Larry Ellison w/ Tom Dotan · 2026-10-21It was quite an interesting journey, yeah. So before this, I was building essentially a Toast for cloud kitchens. This meant we did everything from back of the house order management. At one point in my fourth year of university, I was skipping class to go deploy and install kiosks into rural Rochester, New York. where we had to stay all nights replacing a lot of these, uh, different front of the houses for restaurants. Uh, my co-founder built a stablecoin. Uh, they ultimately sold to Coinbase, but, uh, he's been this very obsessive personality. He was, uh, top 1000 in 4 competitive games including League of Legends. And I think a big part of what brought us together, uh, one, we're both Canadian, uh, and two is we have this big science fiction grounding. And so the belief ultimately was that payments was a hard and difficult problem, but whatever we worked on next, we wanted to be something that seemed exciting, that the future was going to be incredible.

Roger Parloff · The Lawfare Podcast · Lawfare Daily: The Trials of the Trump Administration, October 16 · 2026-10-19Hi, this is Mark Bittman from the podcast Food with Mark Bittman. I've been writing about food and restaurants for almost 50 years, my whole career, really. And what I know is that the good restaurants all have something in common. They're busy, genuinely, chaotically busy. And somehow in the last few years, the best of them have begun to make it look easy. And do you know why? Because they're running on Toast's technology. Toast is built for restaurant owners who understand that Toast's tools keep the line moving and keep their customers happy. With fewer mistakes and hiccups in ordering and paying. For owners, that turns busy into business. To learn more, head to toasttab.com. That's T-O-A-S-T-T-A-B, toasttab.com. Toast, built for busy.
Speaker H · The Lawfare Podcast · Lawfare Archive: Paul Massaro on the United States’ Latest Efforts to Combat Corruption · 2026-10-18Yeah, you're right. They, they, Apple has always been, it's not about being first, it's about being best. Um, this made me immediately think because what you just said, they're, they, they're late to the game. I don't know if you saw this week also Block rolled out this restaurant device. And I thought, you know, that's really clever. I'm kind of wondering why he didn't do that 5 years ago, because now there's this company called Toast that really has already won a lot of market share. So can Block overcome that even? I don't know. And that probably is part of the problem in being a little bit later to the game here. But I think, so how long have we been having this conversation about like if they can ever get Siri right, if they can make Siri good, It's like if Starbucks can ever figure out food. Yeah, they've got it on the menu. You're not really going there for the food. It's just kind of an ancillary sort of an add-on. I just, for me, I wonder, will Siri ever be worth anything? I mean, I have an iPhone. I've had it forever. I never use Siri.
Jason Moser · Motley Fool Hidden Gems Investing · Flying Cars, Smart Homes, and Cracks in the AI Boom · 2026-10-16Right, but there's no App Store, and then there's a bunch of Apple apps that aren't there, right? Like if you are an Apple Music Classical person, which has its own app because classical music is organized in complicated different ways, that is not available to you. Apple News, the thing you might wish to scroll on your display as the chaos of your family makes French toast around you. Not available here. All of these things are going to be CarPlay apps. And if you will recall, on the day of the Home View launch, it seemed like what Apple was going to do was take CarPlay and then like rework it for the Home View. And instead, it seems like they're just going to force everybody who has a CarPlay app into supporting the Home View.

Anyway, uh, they do, it is successful in showing that it can be used for everything that you might need to use it before, because they basically go through all these scenarios where the son walks in, he's like, I want some French toast, and the dad's like, fine, how do I make French toast? And then he beams it to the thing. It's like, okay, the simplest thing you could possibly—
