Micron ($MU) podcast mentions
Not as bad as the ex-Anthropic researchers, who said humanity faces a death sentence 4 years from now. But still pretty bad. The solution in his eyes, a slowdown in AI development, lots of intervention to do things safely because we need to ensure that this kind of intrusion won't happen. Slacking the pace, basically. Now, I got two hats on this one. First is my stock picking hat where I want to help you try to make some money. From that perspective, I worry about how an AI spending slowdown could hurt all sorts of companies like NVIDIA, Intel, Micron, among many others. Those are ones that the clubrooms. Call me more nutritious, but I have a job to do— help you save money. Second, though, there's my human being hat. Not my top priority right here. But when these companies are talking about an existential threat to the human race, it's something I can't ignore. Now that I've studied this issue, that's what a lot of times I've spent out here. I believe that some regulation and guardrails are necessary here. But if these entities feel like they have to slow down spending, hey, they don't need to wait for the government. Stop the slowdown. Just Hey, spend less.
Jim Cramer · Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer · Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer 9/16/26 · 2026-09-16They're, um, I think we're sharing now. So yeah, they most recently just reported a bombshell quarter and they guided to I think $8.2 billion for the quarter that is basically happening now, and they're going to report. But the growth that they're forecasting after that is so anemic. And I really think that you're going to have a huge step up in demand because the companies that are buying these machines are, yes, like semiconductors, you know, logic fabs like TSMC and Intel, but also a huge percentage of them, like 30 to 40%, and probably going up, is memory. So SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron. And that, you know, that's the biggest bull market in, in, in history is just memory producers. So they're, they're clearly going to do everything they can to increase capacity, and the, their machines are going to go up a lot. So I, I have a low conviction view that MPC estimates are too high, but I have a high conviction view that Lam Research estimates are, are too low.
Jack Farley · Monetary Matters with Jack Farley · Hawks Take Flight | Joseph Wang on Fed’s Hawkish Hike and Warsh’s Gameplan · 2026-09-16Well, this giant step up that seems so impressive, that, that's what the company guided to. And then $8.1 billion September 2026 into September '27, it's at $9.6 So 9.6 divided by 8.15 is 17% growth. That's like the average growth for the company. And I think that this is going to have substantial revenue growth. You know, I'm not going to say it's going to be like Micron because there that is really a commodity. But yes, I think that— yes, I think that these estimates are criminally too low. If I was in it, I would certainly be the highest number here, probably even higher. Like, I, I would be, uh, I would be at 10.5 billion, not 9.6. I, I might even go to 11.
Jack Farley · Monetary Matters with Jack Farley · Hawks Take Flight | Joseph Wang on Fed’s Hawkish Hike and Warsh’s Gameplan · 2026-09-16Well, George Kurtz, CrowdStrike, they were the biggest gainer in the S&P 500 yesterday. Palo Alto Networks was a close second there. And yeah, my takeaways from, from George is that, you know, him explaining there needs to be another layer of cybersecurity to monitor the agents while they operate. You know, still kind of reeling from that Hugging Face incident where the agents went rogue and tried to, to cover their tracks. Portfolio-wise, we did nibble on some Micron shares yesterday as the group showed signs of stabilization.
Jeff Marks · Squawk on the Street · CNBC Investing Club: Cramer’s Morning Take on Chip Stocks 9/15/26 · 2026-09-15Yeah, I mean, today Intel files its altera comment. Look, I think Intel's still a buy. I think Micron's still a buy. I just want to start with those. Obviously, the Corning— it was some fortuitous timing because it turned out the Corning's doing this at the market sale for $2 billion. Those are the kiss of death. We saw it for Oracle. We actually saw it for AMC. When you do these, every time the stock lifts, you bring out sellers. So I want people to be very careful until they're done their sell program. And it's certainly— I would say George Kurtz would tell you again, if these companies have a problem, they should address the problem. They should put some money toward it instead of just having people just say, you know, whatever they want. Jensen Huang in the All In conference was asked about, are you allowed to say whatever you want on on letter X. And he says externally what you do is what's done internally. And he doesn't really know what those guys are doing.
Jim Cramer · Squawk on the Street · CNBC Investing Club: Cramer’s Morning Take on Chip Stocks 9/15/26 · 2026-09-15Well, you, you made the comment, which is, you know, compute. China needs compute. And right now, going back to the very beginning, the white cat, black cat, China's getting compute from indigenous chips, which are not great, but if you throw enough at them, it'll do something. They're smuggling, or as the Americans like to say, they have secondary sources of Nvidia chips and Micron and whatever else they need. And then third, the other one that they're, they're using is they're, they're accessing data centers for compute purposes in places like Malaysia. Singapore and elsewhere.

Let's go take a look at the market today. It was an overall down day, but certainly mixed overall. You had the S&P down about half a percent, NASDAQ down a little more than half a percent, the Dow down a little more than a quarter percent. Really, the losses were heavily concentrated in large and mid-cap tech growth, call it, uh, but certainly tech-related on the back of news over the weekend that Uh, and it was an essay from Anthropic CEO Dario Amadei calling for the slowing of the improvement in, in AI, worrying that it could be becoming dangerous and maybe wipe out human civilization in a, in a number of years. So he, he talked about really dialing back, uh, the the growth in embedding third-party evaluators into the system. And that certainly caused the gap down. We did rally for most of the day, so it wasn't that bad of a loss overall, but you did have some major losses in names like Nvidia down 3.3%. A lot of the product manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing companies like Lam Research or Applied Materials, those were down considerably. You had names like Corning down 13%. What else? Micron down 5%. Broadcom down about 5%. So a lot of the big winners from AI were down anywhere from 4% to 8% for the most part. And that's what really dragged down the market as a whole.
