  1. Yeah, I was shocked that Conor wanted to fight him in his first fight back after years off. I mean, 5 years is a long time to not fight, and then to come back and fight a guy like Max who's been constantly fighting the best guys in the world, and knowing that Max is a guy who never fades, and he's in very different— the only guy who's really gotten him out of there is Ilia. And, you know, Ilia caught Max when Max went down from 55 down to 45, which I think was a mistake. He was so big. He got so big to get up to 55 to fight Justin, and he did it over a long period of time, put a lot of mass on, and then you essentially— you're starving yourself to get down to 45 again. Your body's gonna be weak no matter what you do. It's not like he was— when he was fighting at 45, he maintained a lower weight class, knew exactly when to cut, and would make it no problem each time. That last cut to 45 was a nightmare. It was a horror show. And so when he got in there with Ilia, and then you're fighting El Matador, that motherfucker, you want to talk about technique, technique and his strike, the smoothness and efficiency and the one-punch go night-night power. I mean, that guy has it above it. Who the fuck did that to Charles Oliveira the way that guy did? Yeah, I mean, that's nuts. He's got— and up at 55 when Oliveira's a big 55 too.

  2. That's kind of the issue that I was talking to you about, which is, you know, pre-COVID 2018, the return on equity was 26%, trending higher really through from the recession, oh, from '01 when it was, uh, in the single digits to all the way, like I said, a high around 26%. So its profitability was increasing, but really post-COVID and beyond, it's been pretty meager. So that is ultimately, I think, the issue. I think it's a decent value, but it's not the same business as it was, especially when you think of ESPN. They, they own, they own ESPN. And as more people are cutting cords, they are losing subscribers. They're, they're having their over-the-top options from Disney+ to ESPN+. And I think that's a more fractured media landscape that I was speaking about. So while I like Disney, I don't like it as much as I used to like it. Let's say that their business just isn't quite as good. So I think it should trade closer to the high teens. So, from a multiple perspective, and it's in the low teens. So I would say, is there some upside? Sure. But I don't think it's the juggernaut of a business that it used to be. Now, we had a great show yesterday. We look into this question: are prediction markets legal? Talked about Cauchy's lawsuit and what it means for investors. We answered questions about Matador Resources, MTDR. And if you happen to miss it, go check it out. The best way to get every show is to follow Invest Talk wherever you get your podcast. Now, We have a lot of ground to cover over the next 45 minutes or so, and time permitting, we'll get to all of it. My main focus point today concerns the story Iran peace signals and more market volatility. How to invest when headlines are moving markets up and down. You're getting whipsaws of Iran strikes, call-offs, kind of misinformation around whether or not there's actually a deal in place or not. But ultimately, there's a lot of noise. What does that mean for you? How do you navigate this type of environment? We'll take a look at that. Also, I want to unpack airlines, airline, airline business. It's changed dramatically over the years, very heavily focused now on the miles business.

  3. Is this a good time to pick more up or find an exit? My current position is 2.5% of my portfolio. Okay, so first off, never— and this goes for all of you, not just this, this listener— never rely on analyst price targets. They are notoriously all over the board. They're horrible. There's no, there's no guidance. There's nothing of value to gain from it. Now, if you're talking about where earnings are headed, yes, that has value. But you know, with the way they don't know where the market's going to price that earnings, is it 15 times earnings, 20, 50, 80? Who knows, right? That they don't know that there's a lot of other factors that go into that. What these analysts are focused on are what's the earnings of this company going forward.. And that's a good use of, of these, these analyst projections. Now for Matador, they are in the oil and gas space. Earnings are supposed to be $7.11 this year, $8.20 next year. Now let's come down. Let me look at this compared to the broader. Yeah, it's underperforming, uh, the broader space. It's an EMP name, which I don't really like. I would just move on. I think they're— if you I want exposure to oil and gas. As I said before, I want pipelines, I want refineries, I want that type of business, not an E&P. So I'm selling. 4. Now, Diamondback Energy reported selling oil at about $96.82 last quarter. It's gas revenue, negative $2.15 per thousand cubic feet. Even after hedging, gas was negative 34 cents. Some producers have curtailed output, others are getting creative. Matador is using its own well gas to power drilling equipment. Chevron is building a gas-fueled power plant in Reeves County to need electricity to a Microsoft data center nearby. Um, I, I think this is interesting because oftentimes things in the real world don't operate as you'd expect them to. It's number one. But it's also both a risk for investors and a bit of an opportunity. The risk is that, you know, negative gas prices squeeze Permian-focused producers' total returns even when oil is strong. The opportunity is your midstream companies, the pipeline operators, some of which we mentioned, who get paid on volume regardless of the commodity's price. They get paid to move things. They don't get paid based on what it's worth. And the data center angle is fascinating as well. If you're Microsoft or Meta or Amazon and you're building a data center in the Permian, that means access to the cheap electricity feedstock in America, possibly the cheapest in the world. Because, uh, according to what I've read, nobody else wants it. All right, folks, that does it for another episode of Invest Talk. 5. And I definitely go back. My son and I climbed up, you know, rocks that we, you know. Oh, you're a climber. Well, I'm not a climber. I climbed then, but we, you know, we went there 5 years ago when he was too young to do that. He wanted to go back and I was like, these are the sorts of moments I really enjoy. And it doesn't necessarily have to be Sedona. You can go up the coast here in California and get it. So I feel like those are the moments that I'm like, I'm not sure whether it has to be in Costa Rica or Matador Beach, but I feel like those are the moments that I really enjoy. Um, you know, before it was like, yeah, I want to fly an airplane. That would be really cool. But I have friends who fly airplanes and I'm like, you know, I have a family now. I don't need to fly an airplane anymore. I think we look at these, maybe I shouldn't be riding my bike either in LA, but I think we start to look at like what really, you know, captures you and matters. And some of them are like even some simple hobbies, like we were talking about drawing earlier, something I wouldn't have time for when I was 20 or 30. Like I could be spending that time programming computer. Or writing something. And now that those are very kind of important moments and times that I enjoy. So yeah, having a sense of purpose, I think sharing information, a lot of older adults will say it's really nice to be a mentor. They don't want to go back and go through the grunt work of their job, but they'd love to share experiences or be an educator. And you see big benefits for older adults who volunteer. Again, it's correlation, but older adults who are engaged in some sort of kind of generativity, like influencing the next generation, feel very connected and useful. And that's something some older adults will say is like, you know, I'm retired, but I still feel like I'm useful. And I think, you know, certainly, how can we, you know, that'll be us, God willing, one day that we'll be older and be like, well, what are we supposed to do now?

  6. So I think about what really enriches one's life, um, in addition to deliberately trying to build memories, you know, the, the decision to not fly planes and, but maybe to get out to Sedona or Matador or Big Sur or something like that. Yosemite. I'm putting in a strong vote for Yosemite. You want to have an amazing experience in life? It's very low cost. If you can get yourself to Yosemite, drive up to the high country and hike Clouds Rest. It's the, it's the best thing you'll ever do.

  7. But the bottom line, okay, we've still got Anthropic on the horizon. That's gigantic. And now I'm really torn over the OpenAI possibly delaying its IPO because on the one hand, they need the money. But on the other hand, I don't know if the market can handle all this new stock. Definitely something we need to keep an eye on. Remember, a bull can be killed by excess supply and we don't want OpenAI playing matador. Mad Money's back after the break.

  8. I find it deeply, deeply moving. It's Happening. I mean, here's mine. Mine is very crude because I agree with all of that. I can, I can get into that. I so very deeply. But crudely, when I think of what's lifted up this World cup as like the. The apex of it is, well, the US boys played a fleetingly thrilling little glimpse of razzle dazzle. But for me, crudely, the tournament from the off has had the big dogs barking from the very first minute. This is a tournament when the biggest footballers in the world are all utterly shining on the world stage. You think about, look at the golden boot race. Kylian, Mbappe, erling Haaland, Vinicius Jr. Dembele chasing Lionel Messi. I mean, this is. He scored six times. I mean, I know. Yes, the goalkeepers are now ushering the ball into. It was an honor. It was an honor. Don Leo to be scored upon by like matador. Yes, eased on Leo. My God. But this is massive names, massive moments, massive competition and to me it is the singular storyline. If it'd be the lead singer of storylines that's made this tournament such a belter.
