I think we should talk about the fact that Amazon, Microsoft, Google are helping power these hacks.
Ed Zitron · The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett · AI Debate Ed Zitron, Andrew McAfee, Nate Soares, Roman Yampolskiy · 2026-09-17But you're missing out an important detail, which is the hundreds of billions of dollars in infrastructure provided by Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Oracle. To be clear, the harms are very similar. We are not disagreeing on that, but I think it's important to know that this was a function of where it was making decisions, was it was checking on a decision tree based on the harness, based on the training data, which isn't a lot. It's not a decision tree. I know. But it's an alignment issue still. I will agree.
Ed Zitron · The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett · AI Debate Ed Zitron, Andrew McAfee, Nate Soares, Roman Yampolskiy · 2026-09-17I think we've spent an alarming amount of time not talking about the actual harms of AI as it is today. I think these are necessary conversations to have. I think we should talk about the fact that Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle are helping power these hacks, that Sam Altman and Dario Amadei have overseen companies that have done what is tantamount to felony hacking, that we are not having discussions about how to stop this today, but what we might stop tomorrow. And I think in general, we also need to worry about the financials, which have not come come up at all. But if there is an industry slowdown, how do you deal with the $1.3 trillion of compute commitments? All of these are very real things that will have very real consequences very, very soon. But, and I understand why, and it's necessary to discuss what we do around AI, the actual regulatory thing we need to do today is cut off the compute, slow down these labs fully. And I don't, I don't care about China here. What are they gonna do, distill a model like they have the time, they are capped on our progress. So what the biggest thing to do is to slow down.
Ed Zitron · The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett · AI Debate Ed Zitron, Andrew McAfee, Nate Soares, Roman Yampolskiy · 2026-09-17But this is what the world is now pricing in. So why is this so important? It's this slide. If you're going to build a trillion and a half dollars a year in CapEx, somebody has to pay for it. Microsoft's not paying for it, they're building it to rent it. Google's not paying for it, they're building it to rent it. Amazon's building it to rent it. Well, who is the person renting it? We have to have the offtake revenues in order to pay that rent. So if we exit this year around, you know, let's call it $200 billion of run rate revenue, that's below the, the years there. I think you have to go from $200 to $450 to $800 or $1 trillion just to keep up. The blue bar is the expected CapEx just from the Mag Five, and the orange bar is the offtake revenue, the gap offtake revenue that we need to see in order to keep this trade intact over the course of the next few years. Otherwise, we can't build this much CapEx.
Brad Gerstner · All-In with Chamath, Jason, Sacks & Friedberg · Brad Gerstner: No AI Bubble, Semis Eat the Nasdaq & AI's Take Off Problem · 2026-09-17Yeah, I would say it's a pretty impressive turn of event for Google. And speaking of cloud, that's maybe the most impressive and exciting part of the entire company right now. So the cloud division recently inflected into earning positive operating income, showing that while growth has been off the charts, this is actually a segment that Alphabet can make real money on because They actually lost money on cloud for nearly its entire existence that they scaled it and they've tried to take share from Amazon and Microsoft.
Kyle Grieve · The Investor's Podcast (We Study Billionaires) - The Investor’s Podcast Network · TIP847: Alphabet (GOOGL): The Megacap That Still Might Be Underrated w/ Kyle Grieve & Shawn O’Malley · 2026-09-17Exactly. And that's why I think, you know, SpaceX and Tesla bulls are just so excited about these AI data centers in space, which we discussed on my SpaceX picks. So, you know, renewable energy is clearly a massive competitive advantage, and having data centers in space also takes care of much of the cooling that must be very, very carefully managed. But let's look at some of the economics of Alphabet's competitors in the AI data center space. So there are a few businesses that compete in the value chain. The two best ones that I came over were CoreWeave and Nebius. Simply because they're kind of pure play and don't have financials that are obfuscated by other business lines such as, you know, an Oracle, an Amazon, or a Microsoft. Now, the problem with both businesses is that they just today remain unprofitable. So even if you are making a complaint about Google's appreciation being artificially low, they're still probably much more profitable than either Neebius or CoreWeave is today.
Kyle Grieve · The Investor's Podcast (We Study Billionaires) - The Investor’s Podcast Network · TIP847: Alphabet (GOOGL): The Megacap That Still Might Be Underrated w/ Kyle Grieve & Shawn O’Malley · 2026-09-17I'm not going to say if Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic are worried, then they should slow down. They understand their own issues. And if we want some sort of combination of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Atomic Energy Commission, and maybe a watchdog like the International Atomic Energy Commission, count me in. But otherwise, I stand with NVIDIA's Jensen Huang, who argues that these execs are responsible. They'll do the right thing to prevent the throng of unauthorized agents. I think they'll do it if only to protect themselves from mass tort litigation, lack of anything willingness to— who's going to insure them? What I'm not so sure of is what happens if a foreign enemy unleashes its own swarm of agents. For that, I have to rely on Palo Alto, Okta, CrowdStrike and others to be one step ahead of the enemy. Historically, it's been a safe bet. I like what I heard from these companies this week. Now, how about my first hat, the investing hat that worried about data center spending? I think the spending will proceed apace. Anthropic's just making so much money and OpenAI is not far behind. You give them $10 billion worth of gigawatts and they can make $30 billion. They're not going to slow down the important parts of their business.
Jim Cramer · Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer · Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer 9/16/26 · 2026-09-16I don't think that there's that much of a connection because actually I think most of the long-term financing for AI CapEx on the long end is the hyperscalers who actually, I don't think really are that sensitive to the rates. Like it's just a few, you know, a few hundred million there, a few billion there of interest expense. Like they're going to do it. I think actually that the sensitivity is greater on the short end, like the more speculative term borrowers, like the CoreWeaves and the private credit NeoClouds. So CoreWeave and other people like that is in the SOFR market, like overnight financing market, overnight rate. So I actually think like that today's actually is giving me pause about could this, could higher short overnight rates crimp the AI buildout. Whereas I think Meta and Microsoft, whether the 30-year or the 10-year is at 4.5% or 5% or even 5.2%, I don't necessarily think they care a ton.

But right now, why buy the pick and shovels when the actual companies that they serve are trading at a discount to them? Matt's right, Modine is pretty cheap for a pick and shovel, but you can still— there, that 22 times earnings, compare that to Alphabet. And you know, why not just buy Alphabet? And that's— I mean, as boring as my answer is, my answer would be the Nvidias, the Alphabets, the Microsofts, mostly because they have multiple ways to win. I don't need it. It's not an all-or-nothing AI bet. Uh, they aren't— they all have other businesses. Even if AI isn't what they—
