  1. The debate, courtesy of News Nation, comes as a recent Fox News survey shows a close race as 50% of likely voters back El-Sayed while 49% support Rogers, which is within the margin of error. In Maine, Republican Senator Susan Collins and her Democratic contender Troy Jackson faced off in their second debate. In the exchange live on WMTW-TV, Troy Jackson said the Republican senator was benefiting from the tensions in Iran.

  3. Decision Desk HQ's polling averages show Democrat Jackson, who became the party's pick after their initial nominee withdrew this summer, leading the 5-term Republican incumbent by just over a point in the blue-leaning pine tree state. And in Georgia, Senator Jon Ossoff, the Democratic incumbent, and Representative Mike Collins, the Republican challenger, faced off in their first debate in the battle for a Senate seat. In closing remarks, the candidates laid out why they're the right selection for the Peach State. Just like we united Georgians to cap the cost of insulin at $35, to take on big tech companies and force them to report online predators who target our Listen, help me get to the US Senate.

  8. I think my favorite thing that I've seen is Rick Jackson's campaign in, in Georgia for governor, because he has said basically this was 2020. Remember 2020. They will take you back there. And he's running against Keisha Lance Bottoms, who was the mayor in 2020 in Atlanta, where a lot of very bad things happened. And I think that's a message that works for people. They don't hide the fact that they want to live in 2020 most of the time, whether it's Tallarico or Al Sayed. And I think that's an argument you can make to voters.

  9. We should note Hinson is one of a handful of Republican candidates who has publicly called for an end to the war. So has another GOP Senate candidate, former Congressman Mike Rogers, who will face off against Democrat Abdul Al-Sayed tonight in the first Michigan Senate debate. It's one of three Senate debates tonight. Senator John Ossoff and Congressman Mike Collins will face off in Georgia. And in Maine, Senator Susan Collins and former state Senator Jackson take the stage for the second time this week. Joining me now from the White House is NBC's Kelly O'Donnell. NBC's Dan DeLuise and John Allen are with me on set. Also with me, Brianne Pfannenstiel, chief politics reporter at the Des Moines Register. Thanks to all of you for being here. Dan, I want to start off talking to you about this reporting that you all have that President Trump is considering relaunching a full-scale attack. What's your latest information?

  10. Yeah, it was much more civil than we're used to seeing in the modern political environment. But what stuck out to me, Kristen, number one, Josh Turk was really trying to make sure that Ashley Hinson dances with the one that brung her, and that is Donald Trump. He was able to open up with a volley of shots at her on policies that she supported, that the president has supported. So, voted 5 times against ending his tariffs and voted 7 times against reining in the Iran war with a resolution, a war powers resolution. The issue that matters to Iowans most, and this is true across the country, in fact, if you don't live in Martha's Vineyard or in Jackson Hole, the issue that matters most to you right now is the economy, and maybe even some of the folks there. It's also true in Iowa. He was trying to stick to that as much as possible. Hinson was taking shots at him for missing votes in the legislature and for taking money, dark money, through other organizations from corporate PACs after saying he wouldn't take corporate PAC money.

  11. Welcome back. We want to turn now to the issue of election security as state and local officials look to combat misinformation amid President Trump's ongoing efforts to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the midterm results if his party loses. In battleground Georgia, for example, election administrators are pushing back, assuring voters their ballots will be securely and accurately counted in November. It follows calls earlier this month by Georgia's Republican-controlled election board for the Department of Justice to declare the state's voting machines illegal. Georgia is home to some major races this cycle, where Democratic incumbent Senator Jon Ossoff is being challenged by Republican Congressman Mike Collins, and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and healthcare businessman Rick Jackson are facing off to succeed term-limited Republican Governor Brian Kemp. Joining me now is NBC News senior reporter Jane Timm. Jane, thanks so much for being here.

  14. Um, well, you can see when you read that word belonging why I wanted to come talk to you about it. Um, you know, this is a story that, like so many stories, America chewed up, hastily metabolized, spat out, and kind of forgot. So if you're watching this, you may be one of those people who has a foggy remem— memory of the case that I'm talking about. May 2023, New York City, subway, Uptown F train, middle of the day. A Black mentally ill homeless man named Jordan Neely, former Michael Jackson impersonator, um, gets on the subway, starts kind of begging for food, saying he's ready to go back to prison, ready to die. A lot of people feel threatened in the train. Um, some say it's kind of worse than what you normally experience on the train. And a, uh, former Marine named Daniel Penny— white former Marine named Daniel Penny— comes up behind Jordan Neely, puts him in a chokehold, drops him to the ground over his own body, and holds him.

  15. Thanks for taking my call. Sure, how can I help you? Uh, so I wanted to know, after today's, um, speech at Jackson Hole, could we expect maybe a pullback in gold in general, particularly in the mining companies? And if looking at the mining companies, would there be a good entry point if gold does pull back just 5%? Is 10% even realistic in some of the miners?
