And good morning, everybody. Welcome back to the Mining Stock Daily Morning Briefing. Hope you had a wonderful weekend because it's Monday, August 24th, and gold is continuing to follow through on last week's big move. It's up 1.2% this morning at time of recording to $4,663 an ounce, adding to last week's breakout above the 200-day moving average and continuing to hold its gains. Silver's higher by a half a percent to $69.33. Copper, it's up 3/10 to $6.59 a pound. The Bank of Russia has disclosed that its gold Gold holdings fell to 73.2 million ounces as of August 1st. This is the lowest level in more than 6 years and down 1.6 million ounces from the start of the year. Russia has historically been one of the world's most aggressive accumulators of gold over the past decade, making this shift a meaningful signal worth watching. The drawdown is widely interpreted as a reflection of the sustained fiscal pressure the Kremlin is facing. Texas oilman Albert Huddleston has emerged as an anchor investor in a proposal put forward by Glencore and others to take control of Xerrit International. That's the Toronto-listed miner best known for its nickel and cobalt operations in Cuba through the Moa joint venture. Xerrit has long traded at a significant discount due to the complexity of its Cuba exposure and its debt load. A Glencore-led privatization would bring one of the world's largest commodity traders into direct control of a significant nickel and cobalt stream. We'll get to the news out of the miners and explorers here in just a moment, but first, a mention of today's sponsor. Today's morning briefing is brought to you by Integra Resources. Integra is a US-focused gold and silver developer with two cornerstone assets. The Delamar Gold-Silver Heap Leach Project in Idaho, and the Florida Canyon Mine in Pershing County, Nevada. The Bureau of Land Management published the Notice of Intent for Delamar's Environmental Impact Statement in May. That formally launches the federal NEPA review process. Osenko was appointed to lead detailed engineering in June, and long-lead procurement activities began later— will begin later this year. Integra Resources trades on the TSX Venture under ITR and on the NYSE American with ITRG.
Trevor Hall — Mining Stock Daily · Morning Briefing: Agnico Places a C$57M Strategic Investment into Radisson Mining · 2026-08-24Good morning, everybody. Welcome into this week's long-form episode here on Mining Stock Daily. I'm your host, Trevor Hall, and we have a very timely long-form conversation to get you through the rest of the trading day here on Friday and into the weekend. Welcoming back Axel Merck of Merck Investments. This was recorded Wednesday afternoon, just hours after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessin announced his plans to more than double the Treasury's buybacks of those longer-dated U.S. government debt obligations, and gold just ripped through it. So Axel and I break down what that move actually means, why the long end of the Treasury curve has been under so much pressure, and whether it's a legitimate solution or simply just Another attempt to manage the symptoms of America's growing fiscal problem. So great conversation with Axel. And then towards the end, we do ask him his perspective on the ongoing situation happening with the ASA Gold and Precious Metals Fund, where Merc Investments was recently terminated as advisors despite years of very strong performance there. Highly recommend listening to it in its entirety. Big thank you to Revival Gold, Equinox Gold, FISA Silver, and Integra Resources for their continued support of Mining Stock Daily. The support allows us to keep bringing you these conversations every trading day and into the weekend. And also a quick mention here, want to thank Terra Hutton, terrahutton.io. Mining companies, they can spend millions of dollars advancing an asset, but if investors can't find them or quickly understand the story, the work can easily go unnoticed. Terra Hutton, they do help resource companies improve their digital presence, search visibility, and online storytelling. So the progress happening on the ground is properly represented online because a great project without a story is just data. So if you're interested, if you run one of those companies and need more of an online presence, a visualization, go visit our friends over at terrahutton.io. All right, let's get into my conversation here with Axel Mark. I'm going to start off the conversation with a little bit of a story for you because I think it, it It kind of goes back to this late winter. I think it was back in February or March. Unfortunately for my children, sometimes I make them listen to Bloomberg Radio in the car.
Trevor Hall — Mining Stock Daily · Axel Merk: Treasury Is Patching the Problem—and Gold Loves It · 2026-08-21And good morning, everybody. Welcome back to the Mining Stock Daily Morning Briefing, and we're starting the week off on the right foot. Silver outperforming out of the gate this morning, up 1.67% to $65.74 an ounce. Gold is grinding higher but still in a range. It's up half a percent to $4,399 an ounce. Copper is adding over 1% to $6.68 a pound, and there's a significant story behind that move. Copper's London market is showing acute tightness this morning, with the LME August over September spread blowing out to $370 per ton. That is the widest one-month spread since the 2021 short squeeze. LME stockpiles fell for the 42nd consecutive session to just under 205,000 tons, with nearly half already earmarked for removal from warehouses. Supply anxiety is compounded by the situation in Indonesia, where PT Smelting's Gresik plant has been offline for, well, about 11 days now following a furnace incident. Through the company, though, the company says it is accelerating the restart of its adjacent Mann Yarm smelter to offset the outage by the end of this month. In the uranium sector, NexGen Energy has broken ground on its Rook One uranium project in Saskatchewan. It's a mine designed to produce up to 30 million pounds of uranium per year at full capacity, which would exceed the licensed output of Cameco's McArthur River Key Lake complex. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission approved the environmental assessment in March and granted the construction license concurrently. We'll get to the news out of the miners and explorers here in just a moment, but first, a quick mention of today's sponsor. This episode of Mining Stock Daily is brought to you by Integra Resources. With select holes this year targeted to approximately 400 meters depth and an expanded permit application submitted covering an additional 2.5 kilometers of strike along the burr and parallel Sweetwater trends. 2025 surface sampling in the area also returned over-limit results of up to 506 grams per tonne silver and 5.38% copper.
