Welcome to Seeking Alpha's Wall Street Lunch, our afternoon update on today's market action, news, and analysis. Good afternoon. Today is Wednesday, August 12th, and I'm your host, Kim Kahn. Our top story so far. July's retail inflation numbers arrived right in line with expectations, cooling slightly but still well above the Federal Reserve's 2% target. The CPI rose 0.1% on the month and 3.4% annually, slowing from June's 3.5% and in line with the consensus. The index for shelter rose 0.1%, making up about two-thirds of the monthly headline increase. Core CPI rose 0.2% in July month-on-month, matching the consensus and up from a flat reading in June. That translates to 2.5% annually. Seeking Alpha analyst Justin Prewett says the report gives the Fed some additional time in reaching any semblance of consensus, but doesn't change the broader inflation trajectory. Strategist Charlie Biello noted that this is the 65th month in a row that headline CPI has been above 2%. After the print, odds of a hike in the September FOMC meeting dipped to 43% from 48%, with a lack of forward guidance under the new Fed regime leaving traders hedging likely outcomes. Janney strategist Guy Le Bas says we're now in a no-cut, no-hike economy, but it would be good for markets for Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh to come out and say so. Among active stocks, CoreWeave is up more than 15% after the AI infrastructure solutions provider raised its 2026 revenue and adjusted operating income outlook. The company now expects revenue between $12.4 and $13.2 billion, up from its prior forecast of $12 to $13 billion. The consensus is $12.74 billion. Supermicrocomputer is higher as the AI server maker's Q1 EPS guidance of between $1.01 and $1.10 handily topped the $0.72 analyst consensus. And H&R Block is rallying after fiscal Q4 earnings beat Wall Street consensus by a wide margin and the company issued bullish 2027 guidance. H&R Block expects full-year adjusted EPS of $6.04 to $6.24, well ahead of the $5.86 consensus. The tax prep company also announced a 10% increase in its quarterly cash dividend to $0.46. In other news of note, Domino's Pizza announced a new individual-sized Detroit-style pizza called the Domino, scheduled for a nationwide launch on August 31st. The pie is deliberately shaped like Domino's well-known logo and cut into two slices.
