You know, battery life has actually been pretty decent, uh, when I've been testing. I got, I think, about 36 to 40 hours, which not horrible, uh, pretty good. Uh, the other thing that I really like in terms of the UI is that the pinchy pinch and the wrist flick, which is not new or unique to Pixel. We've seen them on other smartwatches from other smartwatch makers, but it is just, um, the, the chips activate when you can use it. So I thought that was really smart because sometimes when they introduce these gesture features, you don't remember that you can do it. So it kind of teaches you in a really organic way, which I liked. And then, yeah, to, to, to your point, uh, the proactive Gemini, I was just like, this is not popping up super organic for me in testing, so I kind of had to fake push the, the stuff, and it was mostly calendar things. It is super helpful to be like, oh, check my calendar, no, I'm not free, but, uh, sure, sure, it's there. The GPS was an interesting thing to test, so I went on a series of walks in the West Village and other areas which are not that friendly to GPS because Google did go and say, shots fired, everybody. We are going to— we do believe that our GPS is better than the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the Garmin Fenix 8. And so I was like, whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo. Bold claims. Very bold claims. I will say, off of roughly 3 20-minute walks, the Pixel Watch 5 did outperform the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
Victoria Song — The Vergecast · Pixel reviewer roundtable · 2026-08-19So then, then there's the watch. But does it have highlight? No. Uh, then there's the watch, the Watch 5. The Watch 5 did get some interesting substantial improvements. Uh, much more accurate GPS. They actually name-dropped the Apple Watch Ultra and Garmin Fenix onstage. During the event. This is more accurate GPS than both of those.
Marques — Waveform_ The MKBHD Podcast · We Skipped the Pixel Event · 2026-08-14I think for people to do at home, um, is, you know, there's a lot of talk about HRV therapy or HRV understanding, right? Heart rate variability. And what that means is like the in-between the beats of the heart beating, um, we should have coherence. I've said that word a lot. In syncness. It should be in sync. Um, so people are using their Whoop or their Oura Ring or their Apple Watch and trying to get an HRV reading which ties into their readiness score, their sleep score. And I think that's fine. I think those are probably not the best ways. I think the, the best way is to get, um, like Garmin makes a chest strap called the Polar device. You just put it on, there's an app, and you can do HRV testing. And I think it makes sense for people to do this at home when you wake up in the afternoon, understand your baseline, and then examine what you do, whether it's behaviorally or things you take, and see how your HRV is affected. The higher the HRV has been associated with better health outcomes. So that's something I think is important for people to consider. Okay, easy, right? Not complicated. You don't have to do it every day, but just try to get a baseline, understand yourself. I think what's missing for people is an you know, as self-awareness. And, you know, for better or for worse, people are looking for permission from people to do things. You know, that's become very popular. Listen to that podcast, they said to do that. We'll try it out, see how it works for you. You know what I mean? I'm a big fan of exploring that and wanting people to explore it. Everyone's different. Yeah, I commonly hear, particularly peptides, hey, my brother, my cousin was doing this peptide They're doing amazing. Why aren't I? Well, you're very different than your brother and your cousin, you know. Doesn't mean it can't work for you, but maybe you need a different dose. Maybe you need different dosing. Maybe you need twice a day instead of once a day. That's what we like trying to help people do is figure out that individualization.
Shawn Ryan — The Shawn Ryan Show · #330 Dr. Craig Koniver - The Godfather of Peptides · 2026-08-13They basically, the shots fired is that they said that the GPS, which has historically been shitty on these, on these watches, is now 2 times improved and will be better than the Garmin Fenix 8 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3. And I was like, wow, you guys are, that's shots fired because you're gonna have to, Yeah, you have to go on a long bike ride now.
