Jim, I can't describe the success of Slack. It's like nothing I've ever seen in the industry. We saw some triple-digit bookings growth from Slack in the quarter, but you can see the numbers are just awesome. And it's because every new company in AI is built on Slack. Slack also, we got, got some great replacements. I was just with one of our customers, Nike, great company. I love the products. I use them every day myself. They're standardized on Slack. General Motors is standardized on Slack. We're having just tremendous success with Slack all, all over the place. Incredible.
Marc Benioff — Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer · Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer 8/26/26 · 2026-08-26But because of that integration and because of the North American competitiveness, we wanted to end up in the best situation of all the trading partners, particularly in the auto sector. So to use that example, Canadian automotive production is, is cars, but there's a very significant production of medium and heavy-duty trucks from Ford and GM that are exported to the United States. So if we were negotiating with Ambassador Greer in good faith to reduce the tariffs on autos, we had always been clear, certainly from our side, um, that it had to include these medium and heavy-duty trucks. Otherwise, the Prime Minister would have been in a, in an untenable position of agreeing to an automotive deal that would have left very significant present and future production outside this tariff advantage. That's one example. The question around language, we had agreed to remove the taxes. We got rid of the digital services tax as President Trump was requiring, and we reduced the payments or the taxes that would have applied to American streamers. Think of Netflix. But in Canadian law, we have always had, because of the fact that 25% of the Canadian population is Francophone, but not only that, to be able to promote Canadian culture, Canadian stories, Canadian artists, there were requirements around discoverability and visibility. So on these platforms, Canadian content, including French language content, would be accessible. We had always said in our discussions that those for us were not part of the negotiation, those requirements around discoverability, but the financial aspects, the payments, had been resolved. So those are two examples in a, in a, frankly, a basket of probably half a dozen where at the end we didn't think we had arrived at a, at an agreement that was in the economic interests of Canada. That, that's why on Friday evening the negotiations weren't able to conclude positively.
Andrew Ross Sorkin — Squawk Pod · Canada’s Side of Tariffs, DoD Drones, & The Bond Market Speaks 8/25/26 · 2026-08-25Whether you're a person of faith or not, Proverbs is the book of the Bible that is called the wisdom literature. The vast majority of it was written by Solomon, which those of us that are Christians or Jewish believe Solomon to be one of the wisest men to ever live. And he wrote wisdom in the book of Proverbs. And then we fast forward and it becomes our Bible, or in the case of Jewish person, their Bible, the Talmud. What Christians would call the Talmud, what the Jewish person calls the Bible. And the wisdom literature is— most of us in evangelical Christianity or Orthodox Judaism believe it to be literal. And so that gives people trouble in some cases, but that's okay. The borrower— Proverbs 22:7 says, "The borrower is slave to the lender." Now, everybody that's listening, think about this for a second. How many times have we had payments to some organization, a car company, a credit card, a bank, And we resent that organization. We signed up for it, but by the time we finish paying off the truck, we hate Chevrolet, or at least Chevrolet, you know, General Motors Finance. By the time we finish paying off the Toyota, we can't stand Toyota Finance. By the time we finish paying off Citibank, we hate Citibank. Make fun of the mortgage company name that you pay payments to? It's because slaves seldom love their masters. Now, it's not literal slavery in the sense of you gave up ownership, but it is mathematical and legal slavery, and if you don't believe it is slavery, try not having it.

Amy Scott — Marketplace · Does Canada need new energy partners? · 2026-08-24Bloomberg's Brendan Murray and the premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, told the Associated Press his country should be prepared to cut electricity and critical minerals to the U.S. if this fight continues to get worse. Nathan Hager — Bloomberg News Now · Trump Threatens 50% Canada Auto & Steel Tariffs, Treasury Cash · 2026-08-24Let's go deeper, Manish, on the license royalty and service. I think you called it the LRS model. LRS is often spun as an asset-like growth. In reality, it may be better spun as a defensive capitulation. By surrendering direct ownership and customer relations to Ford and GM, CATL is admitting that direct Chinese ownership is politically toxic under the US Inflation Reduction Act. Accepting a mere 3 to 4% royalty fee turns that invisible king you mentioned into a low-rent IP landlord. This model makes CTL— what I— CATL, what I would call a ghost in the machine, vulnerable to a stroke of the pen, where the U.S. regulators can sever the IP link at any time and leave CATL with zero physical assets to reclaim. Not only a stroke of the pen loss, by handing over the blueprint for high-density packs to Ford and GM, Not only are you handing over the blueprint, CATL is training the very competitors who seek to exclude it. Let's call it LRS leakage. You're right, it's a threat that is very real. Yeah, I totally agree.
Ralph Sommerford — The Investor's Podcast (We Study Billionaires) - The Investor’s Podcast Network · TIP840: CATL: Powering EVs, Power Grids, and AI w/ Stig Brodersen, Manish Karira & Ralph Summerford · 2026-08-2312 American-made Chevrolet IndyCars will be racing, nearly half the field. It comes as GM is revving up their efforts to employ veterans across the company, from factories to dealerships, and investing $3 million in organizations that train vets in the automotive field. Studies have shown that only 1 in 4 veterans have a job lined up after retiring from the armed forces. General Motors is trying to change that. Navy veteran and active reservist Jesse Owugi drives a Chevrolet in NASCAR's O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
Gary Grumbach — Meet the Press · Meet the Press NOW — August 21 · 2026-08-21So I'm, I'm gonna be the bull here just for fun and we'll still get letters. Okay. I am gonna say that Tesla is so much more than General Motors. And so as deserves, let's say 6, a 6x premium on valuation of General Motors. General Motors trades for about 0.4 times sales. So we'll give them 2.6 times sales and my market cap is At $275 billion would be my fair value. I don't know if I really mean that, but it's a way to say lower than here.
