  1. And that's a first glimpse into how much Bill wanted to squeeze out of every single minute of every day. In his existence. And I think, you know, you, you go and see a, there's some founders here in San Francisco within a mile of where I am today who were of a similar vintage age today and who behave exactly like Bill did decades ago. And so, as you said, he was monomaniacally focused on ensuring that Microsoft would flourish as a maker of personal computer software. And so he, eliminated every single distraction from his life. I think he chose an apartment that was as close as possible to the first Microsoft headquarters. I don't think there was a girlfriend in his life at that moment.

  2. If I were in charge of tariff refunds, I would set up an official website with one of those, like, giant fundraising thermometer graphs, and every day it would get a little less and less full of red until all the tariff money has been paid back. But there isn't that. Instead, the US government has to make these occasional filings with the Court of International Trade, which I've been pulling regularly to give me a glimpse into how refunds are going. And the last one I could find said that as of early September, $122 billion of tariff refunds had been paid back. To which companies? To how many companies? Uh, it doesn't say. But what I can say is that about $200,000 of refund money is making its way back to the company that makes the Playdate video game console. Not because it was in the filing or anything, because, uh, I asked them. How do I say your name, by the way?

  3. I remember when Cognition launched and there was this idea of the, of the AI agent, the coding agent, and then people, you know, it was not in public access for a while. And then the first big demo that I remember seeing was Microsoft talking about using Cognition and Devon to do replatforming, which now in the modern era feels like people are replatforming things that even might not want to be replatformed, like, you know, but like the tools are definitely capable of porting a video game from that to you know, PC or the web browser or something. Like the technology clearly caught up. And I'm wondering if you have a glimpse of like what, what like a bread and butter process or value might be because, or do you think like we're in an era where there won't be as much of a beachhead, there won't be as much of like a strong landing zone and it'll be more diffuse on day one?

  4. Or do you expect, or are you already seeing glimpses of like, oh yeah, like we've gotten this, this kind of thematic question from a lot of companies, we think we can go and like get the first major leg up on revenue doing X, Y, or Z. Yeah.

  5. We are very grateful to the American Heart Association for their partnership. We were able to purchase these monitors through funding in the collaborative. We started with 20 arm cuffs and 5 wrist cuffs. And if you look to the right, you'll see the sync steps for these blood pressure monitors. So first, we are focusing on syncing the Omron blood pressure device to the app on the patient's phone. The Omron Connect app then syncs to the health app on the patient's phone. So for iPhones, this is Apple Health. For Androids, this is Google Fit. And then the health app syncs with MyChart. Important to note, it does need to be the specific MyChart app, not like a health institution's app that links to MyChart. And finally, the MyChart app syncs with the blood pressure flow sheet. This is how the data is transmitted to the chart into the Episodes tab, which this is a glimpse of an enrolled patient. You can see systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and then the bottom row is the heart rate.

  6. I think it really depends on the people around him. So I think Trump respects successful people. I think he respects people who are both successful and smart. And I don't know, I think it might become pretty clear to the heads of the companies, to Elon, to Sam, to Dario, that if they see inside of their own companies, AI is not being controllable and getting increasingly powerful. Like, we have just glimpsed the surface of what's possible. We do not know what the next couple of years are going to be like. So we're talking about the capability to make biological weapons. We might be talking about really advanced robotics. We just don't know what superweapons could emerge, including extremely uncontrollable, extremely dangerous, like civilization-wrecking technology from inside of these companies.

  8. Yeah, yeah, that's interesting. Um, what, what else are you seeing on people actually using AI internally to run operations? Like last time you were saying maybe demand planning had sort of evolved in the AI era. Is there anything else? I know creative was sort of early, early glimpses, but where are you getting leverage these days?

  9. yeah, even with Zuck's, uh, Meta Connect presentation, it didn't come across like he was presenting, it came across as like this incredible technical milestone and like a big step up, right? But if you compare it to like foundation models, like it was a big leap, but it's not like it actually is a drop-in coworker for you. So and even some of his language in the presentation was like, it's a glimpse of the future. Oh yeah. And it's like, well, that like you don't get a crazy inflection point through glimpses of the future. Yeah, it's like another— it's another— it's another milestone.

  10. Yes. Yeah. So I'll have my agent talk to you. Yeah. Yeah. So surprisingly, that was like, you know, they had a few other little things. They now have a $500 a month plan instead of just a $200 a month plan. Jesus. Yeah. There are a lot of people that were really capping that $200 a month plan. Wow. Um, and a few other little things, but I was actually surprised there weren't more big updates. I thought we might see a little glimpse at their hardware product because it's been a while now. Like they made that romance video in San Francisco with Johnny Ive a long time ago.

  11. It was remarkable, and it was a remarkable act of quick thinking in a moment of distress. These two girls are at the far end of the bridge, and one of the girls sees this man coming across the bridge toward them. And that girl takes her phone, she hits record. What she does is she catches a glimpse of this man coming toward them, and then the garbled words he utters to the effect of, "Down the hill." "Guys, down the hill." This mystery suspect at the time, you know, became known as Bridge Guy.

  13. Can you get me up to speed on the state of formal verification? How much optimism should I have towards this as a solution? We had Greg Brockman on the show a few weeks ago, and he was saying that he has this point that there is an optimistic scenario where enough software is formalized formally verified, fully secure, that certain systems are hardened to a point where it ceases becoming a cat and mouse game? Is that too optimistic? Are we on the path? Are we already seeing glimpses of that? Or is the game going to just be played indefinitely and we just need more good guys than bad guys? Yeah.

  14. Yeah, I think that, I mean, putting aside the AI versus superintelligence debate, it's hard to gauge model progress from like, you know, deep research reports because those are pretty good a year ago. They're still really good. But this year, the thing that's felt like it's jumped forward the most has been things in the 3D world, the Blender modeling demos, the video game development. And that feels like a glimpse into, okay, if it's that good at making video games and modeling architecture, it's probably good for hardware engineering. So how much of this year have your progress has been, okay, the models are advancing and most importantly, put aside raw IQ, are they super intelligent, just they got good at hardware this year, or there was a step function. Did you feel that this year?
