Where's that from? Carving. What year is that? Oh, that's a modern master. Okay, that makes sense. That makes sense because I was like, how, how could you do that? That's like the flower petals and everything like that. That seems like you need metal tools. Oh, so this is just an article on the evolution of Chinese jade carving. Yeah, that is. Okay, so this is a modern—
Joe Rogan — The Joe Rogan Experience · #2546 - Michael Button · 2026-08-26She's just like— she was just so— I like— I keep saying iconic, but, uh, really and truly, and could do it all— acting, Singing. She started an amusement park in, uh, where she grew up, or, uh, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. She's like a Hall of Fame, like every— like everything, you name it. Grammys, uh, uh, what's called the Country Music Hall of Fame, or like when I was in Nashville and I did all the tours. She's just everywhere. She's just— she's it. She's the thing. So, you know what's cool? She did live long enough. Beyoncé paid homage to her. Beyoncé did a country record a couple years ago and had Dolly on it, and she kind of got her flowers from like the younger— youngest generation. And that was kind of— that was kind of cool to see. Anyway, RIP Dolly. You know what else they're saying in the chat? They're saying, am I going to address the Live Nation settlement. Yeah, all right, I'll address it. I'm a shareholder, so I am pro Live Nation settling its issue with the government. Seems to happen every 3 or 4 years, somebody decides to sue them, and they always come out of it unscathed because in the end they are the best operator of concert venues in the world, and people really like the combination of the ticketing being connected to the venue. And sure, I love it. Oh, what's— what's— what's the alternative?
Josh Brown — The Compound and Friends · Bubble bursts in 2027, Nvidia earnings preview, Materials sector set-up, AirBnB takes flight · 2026-08-25Such deep talent in so many ways. And as you were sharing those thoughts, Chloe, we were able to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I understand she has two stars on the Hollywood Walk, and already people are showing, showing up with flowers and mementos. And it's already become a place to honor her legacy. Ted, you cover that interesting cross-section of how power and culture often overlap in our— in our culture. And what is your sense of the impact of Dolly Parton as someone who was not only an entertainment figure, but also someone who was known for philanthropy and somehow bridging this divide in a time of so much division?
Kelly O'Donnell — Meet the Press · Meet the Press NOW — August 25 · 2026-08-25Well, I think it was similar to the Tom O'Neill chaos theory with Manson where it's like, he looks like a hippie, smells like a hippie, was living with Dennis Wilson, the Beach Boys or whatever, and then he commits murder. And then you have the Joan Didion quote that that's the day the '60s ended, the date of the Tate-LaBianca murders. So I think it's maybe somewhat similar here where it's like you're dosing people with way too high doses and you're seeding a lot of stuff too much. There's actually a quote from Abbie Hoffman, who was obviously a big hippie at the time, where he's like, we were just upright, Berkeley students who were protesting, and then here came the flower children from LA and Laurel Canyon and stuff, and they were all about their drugs and their murders and their guns, and they were just sort of really crazy. So I think the theory is that Timothy Leary was sort of pushing this stuff in an overly aggressive way that would then cause this sort of backlash similar to the Manson thing.
Jesse Michels — The Joe Rogan Experience · #2545 - Jesse Michels · 2026-08-25But even the connection with biker gangs, like biker gangs— did you ever read Hell's Angels? No. It's really great. It's one of— I think it's Hunter's breakout book. Book, and it was before, like, it was very clear that he was sort of blurring the lines between fiction and reality, like, with literature, like, a literary license. But what essentially happened was these guys came home from Vietnam completely disillusioned. They'd killed a bunch of people, they'd been shot at, they'd seen their friends die. They didn't want to have any fucking part in this society anymore. Anymore, and they just wanted to ride motorcycles and be free. And this is what started sort of the biker movement in America. Mm. And when you think about the people that were in Vietnam, well, Vietnam was all about drugs to begin with. The whole reason why we wanted control over that area of the world, that's the Golden Triangle. That's where they were bringing in all the opium. That's where there was fucking billions of dollars of drugs. Drugs coming through there. Same as Afghanistan. Very similar in that way, is that we conveniently find, like, really important conflicts that we have to be involved in that just happen to be the hubs of massive amounts of drug money. Yeah. And so, when these people were over there, they were— a lot of them were doing drugs. A lot of them were hooked on drugs. A lot of them came back and suffered through withdrawals when they returned to America. And so those are the type of people that you would imagine would be like, fuck this life. Yeah, you know, I am just gonna do whatever I can and I'll fucking rob the man, I'll whatever, we're gonna figure out a way to make our own society and we're gonna be outlaws. Just opt out. Yeah, opt out and do drugs. And, and I— that's what they did. And so it kind of makes sense in a way that they would sort meet the, you know, the Flower Children and Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters and Timothy Leary. Kind of makes sense that they would have interaction with each other.
Joe Rogan — The Joe Rogan Experience · #2545 - Jesse Michels · 2026-08-25No, this is actually— it's a company out of Bali, uh, Kenny Matthews— Kenny Flowers.

Dan Ives — Bloomberg Surveillance · US Bond Yields, Kevin Warsh, and Nvidia Preview · 2026-08-24That's my organization. Get those gift cards. And we've got employers now, and I think you may have seen one of my posts on LinkedIn, giving those gift cards to welcome new additions to employees' families instead of the $150 flower arrangement or the onesies and the teddy bears that get outgrown. A contribution to a 529 plan account is something an employee will remember. If you were the one who got them started saving, I bet you they're going to remember it. And then there's also ways employers can match contributions into payroll deduction.
