It's doing well. I, my revenue last year was $120,000, nearly $120,000, which is funny because I talk to people about it and I think people think it's just like a little side job, like a fun thing that I'm doing, like a little hobby. Your cute little Etsy business. I'll get that kind of comment. Yeah, but I'm like, no, it's actually it's doing pretty well. Um, I'm not doing as well this year. It's been a little bit slower, but like I mentioned, I sell predominantly on Etsy and that marketplace gets very saturated, uh, with competitors. So yeah, that's, that's been, that's part of why I'm calling today.

How do I get found in this sea of other stationers? You know, I was listening to Carlton's episode a while back and you had mentioned you weren't the first scooter, but You set yourself apart. How do I set myself apart?
Shereen Tippett — How I Built This with Guy Raz · Advice Line with Carlton Calvin of Razor · 2026-08-20It makes total sense. I mean, the numbers are just staggering. You said it's about a trillion dollars in, in Asia. Um, that's a huge number. I looked it up before this, so I think US e-commerce is about a trillion two, if I have that roughly right. And one of the historical knocks I've heard people say about Whatnot is, well, you know, Etsy's only so big, or eBay is only so big. And I always find it funny when people mention that, you know, eBay was actually, if you go back something like 10 years, it was like 15% of the overall market and it's $80 billion of volume still, by the way, it was like 15% of the overall market. Now it's less than 1% of the market. So the big change that's happened is the market has actually just grown beyond it. And so I always say it's way too limiting to think about, you know, what your market is or what you can go get to think about that. eBay is sort of a proof point to me that there's at least an $80 billion market of long tail commerce to go get. Online, but the real thing is like how much of the gap between $80 billion and $1.2 trillion do you go capture because the experience is so much better? Is that a, would you agree or disagree with all that?

Kai Ryssdal — Marketplace · Retail feels the squeeze · 2026-08-14Just randomly today, I went and looked up Etsy's share price, down about a percent, just under $80 apiece. 5 years ago though, in the heyday of our post-pandemic entrepreneurialism, Etsy shares topped $300 as craftspeople and makers of all kinds tried their hand at it. There are, of course, countless reasons why any given company shares do anything, but it's not out of the question that a turn away from its original calling of handmade whatnot is doing the company wrong.
