Danaher ($DHR) podcast mentions

  1. I think the multiples for some of these companies are really quite small. The key metric there is just net dollar retention and gross dollar retention. So some of the legacy, we'll call them legacy software companies for a second, their revenue retention rates are still phenomenal. And so there's a multiple arbitrage opportunity. There are a handful of companies that have been, or investment firms that have been doing this for a long time. And I'm surprised we haven't seen them be more active. And then you also have holding companies that have bought a lot of these businesses, like Danaher would be a publicly traded example of a kind of a holding company. Constellation Software would be an example of another one. And so, I would expect them to be pretty active just given— I haven't looked at their activity in a while, but I would expect them to be pretty active just given how attractive the multiples are.

  2. I think that what's happened is, is that these— well, when I speak to the executives off camera, I do that every time. I think they just felt that the rotation into all the stuff that yesterday people fled is so strong that the only place that they could really go to sell things would be at— you would sell it to Medtronic, you would sell at a Thermo, you would sell at a Danaher. And the only one that wasn't doing well at that period was Danaher. That was a good source of funds. These other companies were doing very well. You know, Carl, the amount of money that was going into anything data center was so strong that if we see any flowback whatsoever to any of these other areas, I mean, Cardinal Health is down 4 today. Well, now it's down 3.5. I would call that stupid. Cardinal Health had Great quarter, went to $250 and change when it reported. These are the companies that I'm far more interested than I am in re— in, in refilling my semiconductor lot.
