Yeah. So the narrative appears to be shifting. Companies like CSX, Alphabet, ServiceNow, Snap-on, and consulting giant Booz Allen Hamilton have all recently signaled plans to expand hiring, particularly in areas where employees can use AI to become more productive.
John Coogan — TBPN · Big Companies Start Hiring Again, Anthropic's Open-Weight Position, Zuck Backs AI for All | Diet TBPN · 2026-07-28Exactly. Yeah. So the narrative appears to be shifting. Companies like CSX, Alphabet, ServiceNow, Snap-on, and consulting giant Booz Allen Hamilton have all recently signaled plans to expand hiring, particularly in areas where employees can use AI to become more productive. We have Ben Zweig from Revelio Labs coming on at 12:10 to talk about the difference in the AI-driven hiring market. Some very interesting data about how AI-enabled firms are hiring faster than those that aren't adopting AI. But at the same time, there's a bunch of weird dynamics in the labor market where there's way more job postings than actual hirings. And so that can look like there's a fall-off and it's harder to get a job, but that might just be because everyone's slopping it up in the job postings. Everyone's like, put up a job posting for everything because I'd love if somebody, if some insane sales guy walks in the door, we might have a position. So let's keep it.
John Coogan — TBPN · Tae Kim Sounds Off, Big Companies Are Hiring Again, NVIDIA $50B Tenant | Tae Kim, Ben Zweig, Aakash Thumaty · 2026-07-28He put out a post this morning on Truth, said he's very disappointed and, you know, could potentially retaliate. Again, any kind of expansion in this means higher oil prices, right? Fewer options to get oil out of the Gulf region. That's problematic. So we're watching that carefully. But, guys, you know, it comes against the backdrop of the AI revolution and the massive boom in AI spending, which, and as we've been talking about every day, that's really what's front and center for the markets and increasingly for the economy. And because we're in earnings season, we're getting more evidence that it is helping companies far and wide, not just the semiconductor names or the hyperscalers. I mean, listen to some of these signals that we're getting from other companies. CSX, the railroad company, for instance, we pulled out this quote: Steady construction activity continues to support minerals and metals and Investment tied to power infrastructure and data center buildouts is driving demand in domestic coal, frac sand, and heavy equipment. So again, the tech, the tech boom and the investment boom not just helping the tech economy. Dow Chemicals Industrial Solutions business reported an increase in net sales with local price gains in all regions compared to the year-ago period. Volume growth was driven by increased demand for data center applications, partially offset by impacts from the Middle East conflict. And that was the quote that I really wanted to highlight. Some of the angst right now around the conflict, expansion, higher oil prices, higher yields. I mean, we're at the highest yield since January 2025, but look at how much it's being offset by the boom in investment spending around data centers.
Sarah Eisen — Squawk on the Street · 10AM Hour: Google Cloud CEO, IBM CEO, Tesla’s Worst Day in More Than a Year 7/23/26 · 2026-07-23Yes, there have. And there's more misses than there are hits. Look, I see you, RTX, and I raise you CSX. That was a major railroad that is up 45% for the year. Why is it? Because of Steve Angel, who turned Lindy into a terrific company. Yes, but it's also because there's tremendous commerce demand, much more than people thought. And there's a truck shortage. So there you go.
Jim Cramer — Squawk on the Street · 9am Hour: Alphabet and Tesla Slide on AI Spending, Brent Hits $100/Barrel on U.S.-Iran Conflict 7/23/26 · 2026-07-23Can you have a real bad decline in the market when the transports are your leaders and you're listening to Phil LeBow and companies that should be doing poorly aren't. Jim Vena at Union Pacific is— again, we've got these managers, Union Pacific, CSX, Angel. They're so, so good. Transports are doing very well. And in that market, in a traditional market, you have to buy it. So we have to stay tuned to the bonds. We have to stay tuned to oil. But we should recognize that there are some industries that are doing quite well. It's just not the industries we're used to focusing on.
Jim Cramer — Squawk on the Street · 9am Hour: Alphabet and Tesla Slide on AI Spending, Brent Hits $100/Barrel on U.S.-Iran Conflict 7/23/26 · 2026-07-23If you want to go back to the old days, you always want to look at the rails and CSX. Joe Hinrichs, I thought, was doing a good job. They let Joe go and they brought in Steve Angel from Lindy. This was a had a fantastic quarter. He's doing it— truck-to-rail conversion. We just don't have enough trucks. But this is something the president ought to be thinking about— reshoring. This is his area, the Southeast. There's just a huge amount of factories being built, um, and they have to just expand, expand, expand to be able to meet the demand of new factories, new manufacturing. And I just think that some companies are doing that— Union Pacific. And it's not— it's not a tale told, because I think the softest game and does not seem to understand that you have to talk about these new businesses and what they mean for America. You just have to. But the focus is the hooters. Yes, Jim.
