Speaker D · The Compound and Friends · An Economy So Good No One Can Live In It with Jill Schlesinger · 2026-10-23So it doesn't impact me at all. It doesn't scare me. It doesn't— I was kind of laughing. My son loved it. He's like, I want— can we watch a horror movie with jump scares? So I'm like, fine, let me find something that you can watch. So we did Five Nights at Freddy's where like the carnival guys come to life and stuff. Man, I don't know. The horror, it's trading at a 50 PE right now, the horror genre. It's just too much, too many of them. Don't you agree?

Oliver Burkeman · The Prof G Pod with Scott Galloway · Why Optimization Culture Is Making You Miserable · 2026-10-20Yeah, and the other thing is like seeing the two launches yesterday, it was like, one is like, you know, I think we all saw the Roadster launch in the same way, like cool, like carnival show trick, you know, like very, very cool technology demo. We'll see what the actual car is like. But then Porsche was like perfect stagnation, right? It was like nothing has— cars haven't gotten better, right? And if anything, this car was the first time a manufacturer like really, really, really listened to customers on a bunch of different elements, right? It's like we want a key that you can put in the car and turn, and we want that experience to be great. We want less screens, right? We want all these different things, but in many ways there's zero innovation. It doesn't feel like the only innovation is that we eliminated a lot of the innovations that we've had. And so, I think it's great. I think like we have been talking on the show about, you know, the automotive world being in its quartz crisis.

Matt Kielty · Radiolab · The Smell of Hell · 2026-10-16He literally, yeah, he's the ultimate carnival barker. And it's resulted in a business strategy where he gets access to cheaper capital to pull the future forward and results in an ability to be responsible for 93% of the payload launches, which by the way is incredible in the drill engineering.
Scott Galloway · Pivot · Elon Musk's Midterm Spending Spree, Trump's Press Secretary Debacle, and OpenAI Gets Bugged · 2026-10-16What Trump stood for, some of it turned out to not be real. Like one of them was the no wars. Well, look, we're at a war with Iran. So that wasn't real. The other thing was closing the border. That is real. But then with that, then you have the, you know, Tim Dillon had a great description of ICE. He said, former backyard carnival wrestlers who took like a 7-week course. I love
Joe Rogan · The Joe Rogan Experience · #2565 - Michael Douglas · 2026-10-14Well, festivals can be pretty chaotic environments. They're a great time obviously, but I mean, it's the case for pretty much any large scale event, right? We made this because the world is an increasingly crowded place every single year. And if there's one thing that human beings love to do, pretty much since the dawn of time, it's gather, right? We love to gather. But in today's world, with today's population density, every major gathering is basically a failure condition for conventional connectivity networks. So we built an autonomous mesh network called the Unity Mesh Network that allows you to stay connected with all of your people no matter what, overcome those types of environments, Because the reality is a major festival, whether it's Lost Lands or an Electric Daisy Carnival or even CES, if you were at CES earlier this year, right? So many people in the area. You know this experience. You have somehow you're there with your friends, family, you have full bars on your phone. Somehow a single text can't go through. You can't load a single web page anywhere.
Carter Fowler · This Week in Startups · The Gadget That's Better in Crowds Than Your Phone + Ring’s Founder Before Amazon Bought It | E2349 · 2026-10-12Well, no, I just, you know, it's funny when you get into this, you know, financing role and it is, it's mind-boggling how it works. I guess part of me lets me sleep at night that these are, you know, people, as Chris says, these people you admire, respect. They've been doing it a long time. This is not a huckster that showed up last week and said, hey, I've got a carnival here and let's, let's roll the dice and I'll see what's going to happen. These are people that have built these incredible businesses for decades. Right. And my thought is I don't think that they would risk their company in doing something criminal. I just, I just somehow or another, I think there's enough people on board that says, you know, let's, you know, you cross this line, we're in a whole lot of trouble. I don't think that's what this is. I do think Chris is right that the complexity, the opaqueness of it, has got Wall Street very, very nervous, has got investors very— dutifully so. Right. That's it.
