American Well ($AMWL) podcast mentions
Well, our priorities really were to create a partnership and dialogue, especially within our local network. As I mentioned, we brought in-house several different areas of clinical expertise. We also integrated our behavioral healthcare management staff. Part of our expansion was also the addition of those, those virtual access solutions. We have a partnership with American Well, which powers our our Capital Blue Cross virtual care platform. They also offer behavioral health resources, both physician resources, but also counseling and some other support resources. So really, again, starting with that dialogue to say, hey, here's what our resources are. Let's talk about what your resources are. How can we work together? What happens when you get a complex member that's a Capital member? How can we work together to get them access or to get them supported You're welcome to reach out to us. We may reach out to you. So it's really creating that bidirectional dialogue, that open line of communication and trust within those expanded providers and our already existing provider network. I think we— and with also not just with the expanded solutions, we also reached out to our existing partners in behavioral health, some of those larger health systems in addition to some of those solo practices. And ask them, how do we work closer together now that we have this in-source model? So particularly with those more complex, more challenging members, so those frequent flyers to the emergency room or those members or patients that may be frequently readmitted, and how can we work together to get them access, whether that be brick and mortar, virtual, depending on resource needs. We also talked a lot about social determinants of health. Some of these practices were located more in the rural areas. And so what additional resources may Capital provide or offer to help them break down some of their own barriers to accessing care if their members were having difficulty with transportation or communication? Really, what were those things and how can we support? So I would say much like how we approach other things, it's really we look to increase our partnership as much as possible.
