Julie Morgan — Wall Street Breakfast · Bullseye misses the mark · 2026-08-26AMD up nearly 5%, NVIDIA up 2% as we head into— remember, earnings for NVIDIA tomorrow after the bell. So that's going to be big news. But today you had oil prices pull back and therefore names like Exxon and Chevron were a bit weak, but kind of a mixed bag. Dow was up a third of 1%, S&P same, NASDAQ about two-thirds of 1%, and then Russell up about half a percent. What, uh, what did you take away from today's market?
Justin Klein — InvestTalk · Ray Dalio's Debt Crisis Warning: Is the US Heading for a Fiscal Breaking Point? · 2026-08-26My mission is simple: to make you money. I'm here to level the playing field for all investors. There's always a bull market somewhere, and I promise to help you find it. Mad Money starts now. Hey, I'm Kramer. Welcome to Mad Money. Welcome to Kramerica. I'll be able to make friends. I'm just trying to make a little bit of money here. My job is not just to entertain, but it's also to teach Call me 1-800-743-CNBC. Tweet me @JimCramer. I wish Nvidia weren't so darn important to this market. That way the company could just do a great job when it reports tomorrow night and not be subject to insane, inane, absurd levels of scrutiny. In that case, tomorrow could be another ordinary day. Today, Dow gained 160 points as it advanced 0.32%. NASDAQ climbed 0.66%. Them. But tomorrow won't be ordinary because Nvidia has truly become anything but ordinary. It's all-important and it is the ultimate battleground. Why are the stakes so high? Simple. Never before has there been a company with so many tentacles in so many segments of the economy. Nvidia is so big that many money managers actually spent today positioning for tomorrow night's call. I don't like having to give you what, when I was a sportswriter, amounts to a pre. That's a slang name for a story that sets the stage for the big game, usually the night before. But you need one. You deserve one, especially longtime watchers, especially you club members who most likely own some NVIDIA, because for years my mantra has been own it, don't trade it. And I haven't changed my tune at all. If you believe, as many of us do, that AI represents a new industrial revolution, NVIDIA is the loom, the steam engine, and the computer all balled up into one. We often hear that other companies have something better or that NVIDIA makes Lamborghinis when we need a Ford F-150. I say if you're going to be part of the AI revolution, you got to go with the best. Elon Musk has at times wished NVIDIA wasn't so expensive, but he's going all in on their chips with SpaceX and he even wants to put them in orbit. I'm getting it right with Musk. Of course, arch rival AMD's efforts can't be dismissed.
Jim Cramer — Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer · Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer 8/25/26 · 2026-08-25Marvell is coming on very strong. Broadcom is coming on very strong. These comp— let's take Marvell. Marvell is building custom ASICs for custom— Amazon's their biggest customer. So Amazon's building Trainium chips, which are application-specific integrated circuits. They do not have as broad of a use as a GPU. They're not as powerful. They're not clustered the same way. You know, you take a, take a, take a cluster of 10,000 chips and put them in a— it's not the way that's being done. But Amazon, its Trainium line of chips, Alphabet's making chips, Microsoft is making chips, Meta, Apple is making its own chips. They're, they're utilizing application-specific integrated circuits. And that custom chipmaking for the hyperscalers is coming out of Marvell. This doesn't mean Amazon's not buying GPUs, doesn't mean Gemini is running without GPUs, but it is new competition for the buildout of compute. Why would they want to use ASICs? Well, if they build them themselves, they can customize them for exactly the uses within their data centers that they see as being important. Okay, so that's what Marvell is doing. Broadcom is, is in there as well. Obviously AMD is always nipping at somebody's heels. It's, it's not going to be an 86% market share story for Nvidia forever. And so I think competition from 3,000 different players, including their own customers, is part of why we're seeing that multiple shrink. I also think there's fatigue, there's boredom. This is already 7% of the S&P. How much more can investors buy? Like, like if you're not an index, how do you want to be 9% Nvidia? You want to be 10%. So there's some element of that. It's a $5 trillion company. We've never seen a company get to $5 trillion. We don't— one day we'll have 50 companies at $5 trillion and somebody will look back and do a study and they'll say this is the threshold beyond which stocks can no longer trade at 20 times earnings.
Josh Brown — The Compound and Friends · Bubble bursts in 2027, Nvidia earnings preview, Materials sector set-up, AirBnB takes flight · 2026-08-25Welcome to Seeking Alpha's Wall Street Lunch, our afternoon update on today's market action, news, and analysis. Good afternoon! Today is Tuesday, August 25th, and I'm your host, Kim Kahn. Our top story so far: OpenAI's in-house inference chip, Jalapeño, which it created through a partnership with Broadcom, outperformed NVIDIA's Blackwell in some scenarios according to testing results from the company. OpenAI models also accelerated Jalapeño's development, OpenAI said in a post. Earlier generations helped the team design and bring up the chip, while our latest models are accelerating how we optimize and program it. The company tested the chips on InferenceX, a public benchmark from Semi Analysis that measures the entire process of completing an AI request. Jalapeño beats Blackwell on performance per watt across almost all scenarios without being tuned for any specific point in the curve, according to SemiAnalysis. It excels not only in low-latency scenarios but also in high-throughput scenarios. A more apples-to-apples comparison is against single-token prediction results. It knocks every competitor out of the water. However, SemiAnalysis acknowledged that the comparison with Blackwell is somewhat incomplete and unfair, as Jalapeño is really competing against NVIDIA's latest accelerator, Rubin, which uses HBM4. Blackwell uses HBM3e. Vera Rubin systems are starting to ship on customers right now, while it will still be a long time before OpenAI has anything beyond engineering samples of Jalapeño, Semi Analysis added. Among other stocks, Dick's Sporting Goods is plunging after missing estimates with its Q2 earnings report and setting a cautious full-year outlook. Chairman Ed Stack said conditions across portions of the athletic footwear and apparel marketplace became increasingly promotional, and we took action to remain competitively priced to protect and grow our leadership position. "This environment had a more significant impact on the Foot Locker business given its greater exposure to legacy footwear silhouettes and greater dependence on footwear launch and retro product," he said. Kim Kahn — Wall Street Breakfast · OpenAI chip takes on Nvidia · 2026-08-25Speaking of Operation Economic Outcast, watch the bond market today. We are going to get some 2-years at 1 o'clock. We'll get New Homes in about 12 minutes along with some Conference Board. Stay with us. Pretty good day for the chips. Marvell's up 7, but AMD's up about 5 as Ray J goes to strong buy from outperform. They go to $641. A lot of this, Jim, is about CPU demand. They think they can overtake Intel next year, right?
Carl Quintanilla — Squawk on the Street · 9AM HOUR: Chips Rebound Ahead of Nvidia Earnings, Druckenmiller Slams Treasury, Dick's Sporting Goods Shares Plunge · 2026-08-25I think that Intel's been losing share forever, but, you know, for a very long time, previous bad management. But give Lapua a chance. He's doing a lot of different things, right? I don't think you sell Intel, and I do think you can buy AMD. I think Lisa Su's amazing.
Jim Cramer — Squawk on the Street · 9AM HOUR: Chips Rebound Ahead of Nvidia Earnings, Druckenmiller Slams Treasury, Dick's Sporting Goods Shares Plunge · 2026-08-25Master dealmaker. Too good of a dealmaker to the point at which, you know, you remember he did like, uh, an NVIDIA deal and then like 2 weeks later did an AMD deal. Then he's doing this deal and then Jensen's like, well, We don't have to invest $10 billion into OpenAI. That's at our option. We have an option, right? And you could tell Jensen's a pretty chill dude, public-facing, but he was— my interpretation, Jensen, you know, take it for what it's worth, you know, he's chill, but I think he was a little perturbed that those announcements happened back to back. And I don't know if he put the $10 whatever it was, $5 or $10 billion. I don't know if he took his option to invest that in OpenAI. Open— the, the purchase of OpenClaw's founder killed OpenClaw. Let me just say it clearly, folks. I predicted it. OpenClaw is not part of the dialogue anymore.
