Yeah, I don't own NVIDIA. I mean, at least not directly. By ETF ownership, I've calculated it. NVIDIA is something like 3% of my total portfolio, just indirectly. I'll be watching the results really closely because Nvidia's performance can have ripple effects on so many other companies, and not just the hyperscalers, which, that's definitely part of it. Nvidia's numbers, their future guidance, the commentary they give, it gives a sense of the pace of the AI buildout. That could have big implications for networking companies like Cisco and Arista Networks, for example, that are direct winners when these Nvidia chips are installed and have to be linked together. Nvidia's tone on future demand affects how companies like Applied Materials, which builds the equipment that semiconductors are made with. They can forecast future demand, and investors can forecast future demand based on what Nvidia is doing. Those are just a couple examples. We could spend a whole episode on all the companies that are affected by Nvidia in one way or another. I don't even know if that would be enough. But there are a lot of ripple effects that we're going to see in the wake of Nvidia's announcement. Nvidia might not even be the biggest stock to move. The stock movement on its announcement.
Matt Frankel — Motley Fool Hidden Gems Investing · 1 Earnings Report That Could Move the Market · 2026-08-24Let's go talk about the market rotation we are in the midst of. We kind of had that in the month of July, then you had the bounce back and a lot of the AI names in the first half, call it, of August. Now we are rolling back over and seeing that rotation. You see, saw a lot of weakness today in the hardware names from Nvidia to Micron to SanDisk to Marvel Technologies, even Meta down 4% on the day, Tesla down, Oracle and Amazon down. And then a lot of the industrial companies related to AI, Caterpillar, Givernova, Applied Materials, Lam Research, et cetera. But there was a lot of green in places like healthcare. Eli Lilly up 3.6%, Johnson Johnson 3.3%, AbbVie up over 3%, Gilead up over 3%, et cetera. The finance space was a bit mixed. A lot of the big banks were strong with JPMorgan and Bank of America up, same with Charles Schwab and American Express. But you have some losses in names like Robinhood, clearly linked to tech portfolios, shall we say. So I think this is a rotation that is about to resume. Could be wrong, but that's what the hairs in the back of my neck are telling me. We also had news from the Financial Times, which is reporting that Kevin O'Leary is expected to use the Jackson Hole speech coming up in 10 days, on the 28th, to unveil a new framework for the Fed, clarifying where things that he might have said didn't really hit with markets. Uh, what would that reaction be? We'll see. But that's something the market's starting to brace for. What's he going to say, and how will that impact the, the trend of interest rates, which certainly have been higher? Will you get a breakout in rates, or maybe a pullback in rates? Or maybe nothing at all, but we'll see. We have Nvidia earnings coming up on the 26th. That's the next big area of focus for AI. That's coming up in a little over a week. But like I said, it's really about a market that is rotating. The Middle East, there's no real action there. Oil continues to kind of grind higher. I could easily see a breakout to the upside in the medium term. The dollar was flat on the day.
Justin Klein — InvestTalk · The Trillion-dollar Interest Bill Nobody Votes On · 2026-08-19You raise something interesting. We've got, yes, Ulta up, but look what also is up in two it. That's a company that's been supposed— that's supposed to have been savaged by AI. GoDaddy, that's a company that's really supposed to be savaged by AI, even though Walton Goggins, as we all love, is their spokesperson. And then Veeva, that's supposed to be just decimated by AI. And then instead what we've got is all the Leopold names and Seagate, Applied Materials. Leopold, man, he lives—
Jim Cramer — Squawk on the Street · Global Bond Sell-Off Weighs on Stocks, Home Depot Beats, Meta Heads to Trial 8/18/26 · 2026-08-18Up next, new filings show Berkshire boosting its exposure to Alphabet. Mike Santoli — Squawk on the Street · 10AM Hour: Berkshire’s Alphabet Stake, Real Estate Execs React to NYC Pied-à-Terre Tax, Ferrari EV Sets Auction Record 8/17/26 · 2026-08-17Anthropic's growth trajectory is seen as a key reason to base its revenue multiple on 2028 projections, with the expectation that current spending will fund a business that eventually generates significantly higher revenue and strong margins. And Jane Street reportedly posted a $15 billion loss last month after taking a hit on its investment in Situational Awareness, which was forced to conduct a fire sale to to Ken Griffin's Citadel. It's a rare setback for the secretive trading firm, which is well known for its rigorous risk management and has not taken outside capital since it launched in 2000. And for income investors, ConocoPhillips goes ex-dividend Monday, paying out on September 1st. Chevron goes ex-dividend Wednesday with a September 10th payout date. Applied Materials and Microsoft go ex-dividend Thursday, both also paying out on September 10th.
Kim Ka — Wall Street Breakfast · Retail earnings put consumers in the spotlight · 2026-08-16And then, you know, it goes to GlobalWafers, a company that's in Texas, and they will serve companies like TSMC, which will do— that provide the fab. For the, for the product, for the chips. And then Amkor, another company that's locating in Arizona, will do packaging. And of course, Applied Materials is very key to the semiconductor equipment. And so we're, we're, we're looking at the end-to-end bringing that to America.
Tim Cook — Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer · Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer 8/14/26 · 2026-08-14So he's referring to the NAND memory market, which is what they focus on. But overall, memory earnings have really backed up this drive. FactSet has Micron growing earnings per share 40 to 55% over the next year. SanDisk 25 to 35%, both well above the S&P 500's 15%. Not everyone, though, guys, is sold on, you know, the drivers for memory. Wedbush warns memory always turns cyclical and says Chinese competition and new capacity could bite by 2028. So there are lingering concerns. But I want to point out that not every single chip name got the lift. Equipment name Applied Materials went the other way, down about 4% right now despite an earnings beat. It sold off anyway because management just wouldn't put up a number a number on how much its business grows next year. So you have essentially the same bucket, same sector, opposite reactions. Memory got bought on a bullish forecast. You saw Applied Materials got sold off for holding back on one.
Christina Porcinopoulos — Squawk on the Street · 10AM Hour: Wall St. Legend Leon Cooperman, Memory Stocks Bounce Back, OpenAI’s Talent Exodus 8/14/26 · 2026-08-14You pulled it through. All right. Here we have the opening bell on this Friday, and it certainly does feel like a Friday on Wall Street. Volume is pretty thin as well. A mixed picture here to start our morning. Not even a weaker than expected retail sales report was able to get anything out of this market. So S&P 500 up 6 points here to start our day. Dow Jones Industrial Average down by 66 and the Nasdaq Composite is up by 45. Here's something exciting, though. The S&P 500 is actually in record territory, even though it is up just 6 points. We have got yields mixed right now. The 2-year at 4.12%, the 10-year at 4.65%, and the 30-year yield at 5.23%, up 3 basis points. Brent crude is down a quarter of a percent at $86.85 a barrel. WTI crude down a tenth of a percent at $81.16 a barrel. Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index down a third of a percent at 1,200. 0.16. Japanese yen up a third of a percent at 158.99 against the US dollar. How about a little stock news? Applied Materials, uh, down 5% out of the gate. Uh, good earnings just weren't good enough for investors. And Reddit up 11%. It's going to be added to the S&P 500 next Tuesday morning. Yes, and that is your Opening Bell report. Guys, back over to you.
